Re: Youth rugby in Leinster (u17) (u19)
Skerries 17s are very strong, beat Tullamore 59-0 at the weekend, beat Cill Dara 27-8 the week before and are unbeaten this season including an area win over Navan (both teams were missing their Leinster players) In the 19s hard to see anything but a Navan win but Mullingar and Gorey will be strong...

Re: Age Grade Interpros
North East won 26-25 - North Midlands had a conversion to win it with the last kick. Couldn't stay for the 2nd game. Ist game was a bit a structureless as to be expected at this of the year. Young Joey Carbury seemingly is going to Blackrock College. Good move for him as he will flourish in that env...

Re: FIRA U-18 European Championships
Actually they are not younger it very much happens at High School across a myriad of sports, it's a pathway to elite sport as you state. Check out the documentary Hoop Dreams or Friday Night Lights H.G Bissinger, it was only natural that as the only real professional sport in Ireland that we would f...

Re: FIRA U-18 European Championships
Fergal Cleary came through Navan and the North East development squad before moving to Clongowes. Jeremy Loughmane came through Athy and the North Midlands development squad before moving to Blackrock College. Leinster wouldn't dis-encourage players on the youth pathway from joining a top 5 school ...

Re: Remax leinster League
Can't we all just get along?! :D Judging by how Portarlington got on in Division 1b after being convincing Division 2 champs the year before its likely that all three promoted teams are going to find it hard going next year. Does anyone know why Portarlington came straight back down, is the gulf in...

Re: Remax leinster League
Longford will be relegated next season - couldn't even field a 2nd team towards the end of the season and the tonking by Tullow probably shows they're complete lack of strength in dept. 10 man rugby won't win you many games in the higher divisions.

Leinster League - Division 1B Garda vs Enniscorthy home win Monkstown vs West Offaly Lions home win with bonus Portarlington vs New Ross home win Tullow vs Wicklow home win Leinster League - Division 2 26/03/2011 Kilkenny vs Gorey - Gorey might shade this - Kilkenny only pride to play for 27/03/2011...

Re: Remax leinster League
I think there is a fallacy that you need to be young to play rugby probably perptuated by clubs with youngs sides. Boyne won the league this year with a pack that was probably older than Cill Dara's do you think Cillian Duffy, Brendan Muldowney , Eoin Collins or even Craig McGrath or Niall Kerbey ar...

Re: Remax leinster League
Clane have had two bonus point wins and a draw in their last 3, the draw was with Gorey the form team as you claim preceeded by tight defeats, 5 losing bonus points plus they had a bonus point win over Clondalkin early in the season, I haven't seen them play but they look like a top of the ground s...

Also if level on points it's decided by number of wins not head to head.

Re: Remax leinster League
You have your maths wrong NR, clon are 8 pts ahead of clane and you think they will beat kilkenny the last day. You also reckon clane will win 2/3 but will still get the playoff. That's not possible in any mans language. Clane have not showed form all year that suggests they can win in ash and clon...

Re: Remax leinster League
I think its hard to say that away wins against the bottom two mean that Clane have turned a corner. Clondlalkin bounced back from that Gorey defeat by hammering Wexford, and Gorey are probably the form team in the league at present so the Clondlalkin result was not a major upset. Clane have had two...

Re: Remax leinster League
I think 1A is settled now and although Newbridge can relegate Cill Dara they will be focused on beating Carlow, AIB Junior Cup beckons possibly and with Arklow at home they will be dark horses for the towns cup. 1B is also settled unless Portarlington can get two bonus point wins and Wicklow fail to...

Re: Remax leinster League
Kilkenny hammered Ash when they weren't in form can't see them but winning on a good paddock. Clon and Kileknny have strong J2s and I think both are better equipped for Division 1B than either Longford or Clane. Ash not so sure they have a good set-up but are a bit young I think.

Re: Remax leinster League
There would be no shame if Longford didn't win it because if they don't finish job now they simply don't deserve it. Looking at the remaining fixtures I think the league will finish 1.Longford 2. Clon 3. Kilkenny 4. Clane 5. Ashbourne , I agree with Chris above regarding Asbourne, Clane at home is p...
