Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

His chances are still better in Munster than if he remained in Leinster (with Luke McGrath and Gibson-Park who are both about 25/26 who might or not be involved with Ireland). With Gibson-Park becoming Ireland Qualified, his opportunities would have reduced as well as to whether he would make HC 23 ...

Why? Mattewson will only be there as world cup cover for Murray. Matewson's family is back down under, so he should be back for start of super rugby season.
So far, James Hart and Duncan Williams are out of contract.

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

Or the Munster coach decided he wasn't in his plans for next season and to give the players he was keeping more gametime? So he might have treated him better if it had suited him. Thanks. Dumping players like that isn't especially common in other clubs, especially guys who have proven themselves re...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

Yet Munster is the 2nd top try scoring team in the Pro14 with 53 tries. Leinster is top with 64. Munster is comparable with teams like Glasgow (48), and Scarlets (40). Yes, Munster can score plenty of tries in the league. But that's exactly the point. They can grind worse teams down but need a bit ...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

The match v. Exeter really reminds me of the Leinster v. Harlequins bloodgate game when Leinster turned a corner. I think Munster are at a similar stage now on their journey. I just wouldn't write them off. If that is to be a good comparison, it will require Munster to really improve their attackin...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

Exeter has by far the best defence in the English Premiership having conceeded 22 tries so far. Saracens are next best with 27. They have also scored the most (50 to Saracens 44). They also scored 4 tries against Saracens just before Christmas, winning 31-13 (Saracens scored 1 try). They went over ...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

Enthralling game. Both sides really gave a huge effort, and there was very little in it. If Exeter had not had to win by a defined margin, we might have seen a different result ... but they've got nobody to blame for that but themselves. They were subpar in their home fixture against Munster in San...

Re: Munster v Leinster Sat 29th 5.15pm

I wonder is the reason for Leinster really poor discipline down to the fact that the Leinster Branch have no professional refs in its ranks and to be readily available to take training sessions with the teams. John Lacey does that with Munster. Now that I think of it, why is Leinster so poor at deve...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

a few of you who post on this site who continually bang on about where people are born and if they are not born in Ireland/Munster, they are somehow inferior to the homegrown players , supporters etc. Au contraire. The non-Munster born players are vastly superior to their Munster born peers. I'm no...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

So the supporters who have history with trans-phobic nicknames for their opposition are trying to claim xenophobia? You've got as much chance with that one as you've had with winning anything in the last 10 years I don't know what you are referring to with nickname remark, but I think there are a f...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

In a cosmopolitan international city like Dublin it is expected that the supporters, crowd, etc. will be from all over and welcomed. It's not particularly worthy of comment. Munster on the other hand is trying to import supporters just like it imports players, only the IRFU aren't going to force Ge...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

I must say, I'd never though of Leinster fans as being xenophobic up to now.
The ad features a German guy called Thomas who just loves being a Munster supporter and you think there is something wrong with this?

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

Stander’s unique selling point to Ireland has much eroded in the last two years. If ever there was a ‘one trick pony’ it is he. Carrying is a very important element of a back row option- but to be optimised it needs the potential for a pass. Stander rarely passes. He still very good at it, but team...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

So you would be happy then if Munster had paid compensation  Why is that funny? European soccer model would have a transfer fee. US soccer model would have trades. Other rugby countries would be forced to hold off until those contracts expired. indeed. If he were centrally contracted the...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

Now we are citing the amateur era and the GAA? Jesus Christ. 8) I have been very clear that my issue here is contracts. Carbery was under contract beyond last June with Leinster, was not centrally contracted, and yet Munster got him for nothing. If he was out of contract then your point stands. It'...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

I think you might be surprised by the number of Leinster players of a certain vintage supported Munster up to about 2009. As far as I can recall, Conway's father is/was a Munster fan and Conway went to Munster matches with him. I personally remember meeting some underage Leinster players (all decke...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

Andrew Conway is an awful one for you to use. His last 2 games for Leinster were the Challenge Cup Final and the Pro 12 Final. Hardly AIL. Cronin is another poor example. He played a grand total of 2 career games for Munster, and went to Connacht to get opportunities and then wound up with us. Exac...

Re: The Province Formerly Known As Munster 2018-19

Conway got a really bad steer when he was tapped up mid contract. He held his career back by years transferring to Munster where he was behind higher profile players. Their back three at the time included Earls, Zebo, and Howlett. So there is that. But he was a self proclaimed "Lunster" y...
