it's not next friday...
Correct! It's from next Friday the countdown in days begins!! Mea culpa. My excitement is clouding my thinking obviously...
A week too soon...

I never thought I'd miss seeing those words but after 6 months it's comforting to see them again

Yep, no home advantage for leinster either... big worry that Sarries will win out, which would be awful
Crazy that you thought that cancelling Ireland's remaining 6N games was a "hysterical overreaction" but one injury to James Ryan and Leinster are doomed.

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

He's our best player IMO but we're long past the days when success hinged on one player being fit so don't think we need to be sweating over his fitness for the next month, especially when Sarries aren't going to be anywhere near the best. Saracens will most certainly be close to their best. They'v...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

Ah that's shite for Adam. Every time a window opens for him he ends up getting injured.

Vakh has had that injury since last November, hope he's coping alright and gets some good news. I could see Clarkson progressing pretty rapidly over the next 12 months.

Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.

He seems to have got much bigger since I last saw him, fair play to him for being rewarded for all that hard work. We've got some mutual friends and by all accounts he's a great guy, hope it works out for him.

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

Obviously I'd prefer if Ryan wasn't injured but I think this could be good for him in the long run. It's been a hectic few years for him and his body will have taken an awful lot of punishment so to have a 9 month break (or whatever it turns out to be) and miss this weird delayed end to the season (...

Loathe as I am to jump in on Mildy's behalf I feel like I have to point out that Dwarf is clearly one of Pilotman's alts.

Re: Leinster Academy 20-21

Some guys with interesting size profiles coming through there in Sheehan, Soroka, McCarthy. Have heard a lot about Karl Martin, worthy of the hype? Saw him in a trial game a couple of years ago and he ran the show from 12. Even then he was a serious unit and I had no idea he was that young until I ...

Re: Wing going forward

I think we will see a good bit of Tommy O'Brien on the wing this season – not just as a wing, but he will get minutes there. He has got a winger's pace and played there extensively at age-grade level. He's also a guy that the coaching staff want to get involved and get up to speed. The lad is a big...

Re: Scrumhalf going forward

Murray was neck and neck with Smith from the start of the 2013 season until after the World Cup IMO, and then was a good bit ahead of him until he got the hiccups in 2018. Smith's form dropped off hugely, especially after the toilet incident in 2016.

Re: Trends

The drop goal is back, delighted to see it. Not entirely sure why it's making a comeback in NZ but my guess is that the pace of games down there is so high that teams don't just want to endlessly go end to end and see it as a good way to take a breather and keep the scoreboard ticking over when play...

Re: Scrumhalf going forward

TJ Perenara kinda shows one example how NZ gave up the no assholes policy too. If you ever catch him on ref mic he doesn't come across well. Quite a few times I heard him swearing at refs and not being called up on it. I've a lot of time for Perenara. I think his heart is in the right place [as per...

Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.

If they bring him back into the fold I've no problem with it. The same way I'd be happy if any of the provinces got Jager to come back. I don't see why people would be eager to get Jager back, he hasn't done anything of note for the Crusaders. From the limited bits I've seen of him he struggles to ...

Re: 2000/21 Membership

Interesting to note that New Zealand are returning this weekend with full stadiums. Now I understand that they're currently operating with very different conditions than we currently are (no covid cases in NZ at the moment) but it could indicate that if we can get to that level of containment that ...

Have to admit that I didn't expect Dean to be a pro, fair play to him, hope he does really well.

I was a huge fan of Duggan at 20's level, delighted to see him get a contract. IIRC he had a huge workrate but could be dymanic at times too.

Re: Leinster and scrumhalf development

I've always thought JGP was a more natural partner to Sexton than McGrath. (Not saying that means he should be our starting #9 btw...!) Himself and Ross seem to have a good understanding as well. JGP is funny one because he has games where his service is really slick and he plays the Reddan role re...

Re: Leinster and scrumhalf development

With that said, McGrath and Sexton have only played 117 mins together for Leinster this season - 56 mins against Treviso on 16 Nov, and 61 mins against Lyon the following week [23 Nov]. Considerably less than two full matches; actually closer to 80 minutes than 160 minutes. So I would suggest that ...

Re: Leinster and scrumhalf development

Sorry Hugo but I don't think that's true at all of Luke this season. Myself and many others were saying that it didn't really matter which scrumhalves went to the World Cup because they'd all be expected to serve Johnny in the way you're talking about and I'd agree that Luke wasn't playing his natur...
