Re: Leinster A '20-21'

I wonder if we’ll pick a strong side; give a run out to Larmour, Lowe, O’Loughlin, Frawley, Byrne, Leavy, Josh Murphy; guys who are returning from injury and/or mightn’t make the starting XV for the turnips match

Re: Munster Away 26/12 19:35 Eir Sport 1

From having to draft in Smith and O’Reilly for debuts against Connacht, we now have to omit one of Keenan, Lowe, Larmour and Kearney!

Re: Heineken Cup 2020/21

Presumably it’s too tight a turnaround to schedule another Pro12 match for this weekend? No booze is difficult but throw in no rugby and I might crack!

Re: Fullback options going forward

Good age profile for the three first team squad players. Keenan was fantastic vs Ulster. I suspect Larmour is better suited to the wing; less to worry about and he can just do his happy feet thing!

Re: Centre Options going forward

I like having J O’Brien, Frawley and Hawkshaw as options in the center, all offer a second footballer option. C O’Brien has massive potential but has been really unlucky with injuries; I had hoped that this would be his breakthrough season. Turner has been very good this season and looks like a soli...

Re: Wing going forward

If Byrne could stay fit and fix his defense it would be a big boost for the squad. He’s fast, strong and good in the air.
Tommy O’Brien probably more suited to 13.
O’Sullivan and Smith look very promising.
With injuries and unavailable players, we’re light in the 3/4s at the moment.

Re: Scrumhalf going forward

all young scrumhalves need to develop there decision making, some more than others.. the lack of quality game time at AIL and Pro 14 level certainly hasn't helped the current young scrumhalves at leinster.. certainly not aided by the fact that HOS, Patterson and Foley all played positions other tha...

Re: Scrumhalf going forward

Hughie needs to play 9 a lot to develop... he isn't getting that at Leinster, I doubt he will move on but something has got to give. I assume one of Patterson/Osborne may move on.. Patterson has higher upside but obviously hasn't gotten much of a chance lately and looks more likely to be released. ...

Re: Leinster v Ulster Fri 8th January 2021 19:35 EirSport

You’re easily pleased/deluded lads/lassies I suppose the fact that we won means we are beyond criticism. All that’s happening here is you’re playing the poster, not the facts. That 8/8 against a Henderson-less Ulster is 4/8 against Exeter/ Racing/ Toulouse. Take some smelling salts. Job done but ag...

Re: Leinster v Ulster Fri 8th January 2021 19:35 EirSport

I was in this boat, but he was tidy enough when he was shallow enough to be in frame. Tidy break, deft kicks and solid in defence. He is a player who never gives less than everything. Amen, call it a miracle as I would never have believed a slow 10 could make it as a 13! Very happy to be wrong thou...

Re: Leinster v Connacht Sat 2nd 19.35 Eir Sport

The shocker for me was the fact, that faced with super aggressive Connacht D and linespeed, which were putting us under massive pressure, we just didn't batten down the hatches, weather the storm, play territory via kicks to touch and let the opposition blow themselves out. No instead we repeatedly...

Re: Leinster v Connacht Sat 2nd 19.35 Eir Sport

Unacceptable performance regardless of injuries and unavailable players. Terrible tactics from the start. Why shuffle the ball out wide to a patchwork 3/4s against a rush defense? Why continue to do so when it was causing mistakes and resulting in opposition scores? Why keep J O’Brien at 10 when we ...

Re: Leinster and scrumhalf development

Nick McCarthy back from Munster? Nowhere near good enough, I’m afraid. Long term inability to develop 9s organically is a big concern. Luke McGrath and John Cooney the only decent product in the professional era and neither are regular 6 Nations first choice; I don’t think this can be said for any ...

Re: Leinster v Connacht Sat 2nd 19.35 Eir Sport

Via The42.ie: LEINSTER WILL HAVE full-back Jimmy O’Brien available for their Guinness Pro14 clash with Connacht this weekend. An update issued by the province this afternoon confirmed that the 24-year-old is in contention to play on Saturday at the RDS [KO 7.35pm]. O’Brien has completed the graduat...

Re: Two Leinster players test positive for Covid-19

My understanding of events is: - Tests before the munster match showed some false positives due to false positives resulting from contamination / lab error / anomalies. - This was rectified quickly with all tests being confirmed as negative - There are now two positive cases I hope this isn’t a laps...

Re: Leinster and scrumhalf development

Serious lack of top level 9s and nothing coming through. Need to look at bringing in talent. Fardy has been a great signing but will leave at the end of the season. I’m open to correction but this will mean that we have no NIQs which surely affords us some leverage to sign a player, even allowing fo...

Re: Leinster vs Cardiff, Nov 22nd, 5.15pm

Hawkshaw won’t make it as a top flight 10 but could be a decent 12. HOS is not good enough to even make it at Pro 1X level. Beyond Luke and JGP (neither of whom are world beaters) we have nothing at scrum half. It’s been addressed elsewhere on this forum but Leinster doesn’t produce 9s for some stra...

Re: MNR: Edinburgh in the RDS, 16/11, 8.15pm

Edinburgh were terrible but you can only play what’s in front of you. I really like having three footballers in the backline (Harry, Frawley and JOB). All three have a full range of passing and kicking skills. Luke McG was good, he got the ball away fast and sniped well. Our pack is too strong and e...

Re: Zebre at home, 23 Oct. 19:35

Our famous squad depth is starting to look stretched. Shame Sheehan is injured (presume that’s why Tracy is training with the Ireland squad, rather than him?). I see nothing coming through at scrum half, that is anywhere near the required standard so let’s hope Luke can play himself back into form a...
