Re: A whiff of Cordite

Some sense spoken by Andrew Trimble (on The42) on the whole "should an exception me made for Zebo" rubbish: https://www.facebook.com/110967718965726/posts/3570603929668737/ (Additional rubbish in the comments though) Brilliant clip. I recommend it to anyone, who hasn't heard it. Thanks for posting!...

Agreed. Only time will tell. But as you know, national rugby journalists have their ear to the ground and this perspective was offered to me privately. The journalist has not written to this effect. Seeing as it's private, make sure you don't put it on the internet whatever you do

Big Dev's 250th appearance
Also, if Dave Kearney scores a try he will pull level with Rob as the top scoring Kearney brother.

That is an outstanding achievement. Just 7 behind D'Arcy now. FWIW, he has 70 Ireland caps to Gordon's 82 (+1 Lions cap).

250 caps in such an attritional game, while having his game time managed, is actually incredible.

Rob Russell playing great stuff for Trinity at the moment, thought he was pretty unlucky not to make the academy..
He was shafted by Josh Lyman when Santos won the nomination.

Re: Leinster V NG Dragons RDS Fri 2nd Oct 20:15

The "money" quote from Stuart Lancaster in today's the42: “Leinster have got to be Leinster. We’re not going to go out and sign five or six overseas players. In the modern climate anyway, with the way that finances are being dictated this next 12, 24 months, the Leinster model is the one that I wou...

Anything that generates revenue is worth considering at present, but in Munster's case it invites the obvious question as to why they didn't do this before covid.

Re: Leinster V NG Dragons RDS Fri 2nd Oct 20:15

How do you know? Has anyone from the club actually said there is no money? If they decide not to sign someone I dont think it will be because there is no money available, it will be because they want to stick with homegrown players. Lots of clubs across all leagues are still signing overseas player...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

So we’re guaranteed a new winner this year. I fancy Exeter at this stage, but only barely Its going to be the first time since 2008 that one of the big four (Leinster, Toulon, Saracens and Toulouse) haven't taken the trophy home, 11 seasons. Hope Racing do it, they've paid their dues. I see what yo...

Re: Leinster’s Captaincy Options

We have a captain. Johnny Sexton is guaranteed his place and, following some early difficulties, deals well with referees. He is also a darling of the media and (subjective opinion alert) a very good captain, as reflected by the fact he plays that role for Ireland too. On the other hand, backrower8 ...

Re: A whiff of Cordite

Ditto! Gav's headline in the IT, that the Pro 14 is "not fit for purpose" - was sadly predictable. Loathe as I am to agree with Cummiskey, you can legitimately make that argument. We played Ulster and Munster twice [both top four teams in the Pro14] in the last month – once each in knock-out games,...
