Re: Munster Rugby - Semi Conscious, the Series Finale??? - 2020/21

Fat Pirlo. There’s a mental image I’ll see whenever he plays.

Re: Zebre at home, 23 Oct. 19:35

Another thing to consider is if having 4 7s is financially viable in the current climate. Leinster currently have a 47 man squad, which is a considerable size, and given the calibre of players in that 47 man squad, you’d imagine that it is not cheap to maintain. Leinster like the other 3 provinces ...

Re: Zebre at home, 23 Oct. 19:35

Listen I understand the desire to get a dig in at Munster or Nucifora, but the reality is we have enormous inbuilt advantages, compounded by brilliant coaching. So we can't expect to keep every guy who comes through, nor can we expect them all to be happy to sit on the bench (if even that). "The bi...

Re: Ireland V Italy 24th October

Absolutely. But this weekend there's a pot to be won shag development. We don't have such a thing as a world class back 3 player right now so, as you say, taking some pain in gambling to get there is worth it starting next week. Both Larmour and Lowe aren’t available this weekend, so it’s kinda moot.

Re: Leinster Squad 20-21

don't see it that way myself, if they head on loan out west i'd consider it extremely unlikely they'd be interested in returning to leinster to battle it out for game time when they have so much guaranteed out west. has a loan of a leinster player to another province ever benefited leinster? Yes, b...

Re: Ireland V Italy 24th October

Yeah, he’s had decent form but he also rarely does anything that blows me away.

I’d take a bit of error count in developing players if they can do something special and they have the right attitude. But that’s based on long term rather than short term.

Re: Zebre at home, 23 Oct. 19:35

If Munster had been able to do player development there wouldn't have been anything to discuss. That doesn't change the root of the issue though - we've a conveyor belt of talented back rows who all need game time. One is bound to make the (fairly logical) choice to move at some stage, particularly...

Re: Zebre at home, 23 Oct. 19:35

They need, simply, to develop the ability to develop players. Either their own or anyone they sign. I think this is more a discussion for how Leinster handle this situation. Leinster may be forced to chose the route the take with regards to the 7 jersey. What Munster want, or how they handle their ...

Re: Ireland V Italy 24th October

Stockdale at 15 gives the option of Lowe at 11. Also we need options at 15, it's clearer now that Larmour is hurt.

I really like Lowe, Stockdale and Larmour as a potential back 3. Others may disagree about Conway and Earls.

Re: Munster Rugby - Semi Conscious, the Series Finale??? - 2020/21

Hard to tell if he's developing as opposed to just managing without internationals.

Healy has been picked since his match winning kick. So it could be he's won the jersey as opposed to being developed.

Re: Zebre at home, 23 Oct. 19:35

Having lost Deegan for the season, just as Leavy was coming back we have ended up with a pool of 8 again. Munster have 7 backrowers supplying half the internationals right now and can draw on Beirne and Wycherley. They also have Hodnett from the academy who should be getting loads of game time soon....

Broken jaw for Ringer, out for 4-6 weeks
Ireland already have too many centres in the squad and Leinster weren’t going to get to use him. An injury is never good news but the timing isn’t bad at least.

Re: Zebre at home, 23 Oct. 19:35

Connors playing for Ireland, and playing so well, guarantees that at least one of the 7s will be moved. Indeed, it would be negligent of Farrell if it weren't the case. 7s have a shocking attrition rate. Leinster were able to manage 3 international 7s at the same time in SOB, Murphy and vdF. 4 duri...

Re: Corona Virus

Pro sport being able to take more precautions is part of it, but the bigger one is that most matches are televised and the live entertainment helps other people bear lockdown. That’s the reason exceptions are made, it’s not that their desire to play or the survival of their livelihoods are more imp...

Re: Leinster and scrumhalf development

Murphy goes to Munster for a 2 month loan. https://www.the42.ie/ben-murphy-leinster-munster-5242551-Oct2020/ As an aside I really disagree with the characterisation of saying that a player missed out on the academy and joined the sub-academy. The sub-academy is the default pathway and a small number...

Re: Zebre at home, 23 Oct. 19:35

Ive heard so many rumours of careers being over with injuries that were off (many listed, also Addison and Ryan) and on the other side not hearing squat about guys who ended up quitting (Daly) or nearly quitting (Healy). I try to ignore them now. It doesn’t do anyone any good and it does plenty of h...
