Re: Wing going forward

No one in the Irish system to take advantage afaik. Lowe, Butler and Cloete all qualify this year. Al 4 of Ulster's are NIE and both of Munster's. Fardy for us. Porch for Connacht Fainga'a would have been ok for connacht but he's gone. No one else in the system bar possibly a new signing or 2 for c...

Comin at you from the KLO. It should be noted that the clusters are all in food production plants with direct provision housing. I'm about 5km up the road from 'O'Brien fine foods" aka Brady's ham. The workers are here on fifo (fly in fly out) contracts, paid by an agency in their home countries. T...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

I think them losing Skelton and Kruis certainly balances our loss of Ryan! Yep, that was the second row that started in the final, something I was reminded of recently. Itoje started on the blindside, Nick Isiekwe was the second row sub. Three of those players not with the club next season. Lots of...

Re: Stash Watch 2020/21

My favourite example of a piece of kit design for psychological reasons is the shorts on the 2009 Grand slam kit. Two simple green curves either side create an impression of narrow hips and break up the body shape when combined with the jersey and the green pitch. Very small, very subtle, very effe...

Re: Munster, The Money Pit Province 2019/2020

Shur isn't Cork producing the majority of the Munster born Munster players (who are increasingly a minority) these days! Yep. They have been for quite a long time. Limerick 1. Craig Casey [21] 2. Neil Cronin [27] 3. Keith Earls [32] 4. Dan Goggin [25] 5. Dave Kilcoyne [31] 6. Conor Murray [31] 7. C...

Re: Stash Watch 2020/21

Bad, an inverted triangle shape (broad shoulders, narrow hips) is perceived by our brains to be physically powerful. Its why you'll often see a 'disruptive' element on shirts around the sides of the torso and under the arms, or on the shorts 2015-16 jersey was a good example. Big splash of white on...

Re: Munster, The Money Pit Province 2019/2020

Daly is very talented. I'm a fan. Well-balanced, speed in the open field and an overall fine-tuned rugby player. Might be a bit of a weird thing to say, but he strikes me as more of a Leinster-type of back than a Munster-type of back. Nash was very impressive for the U20s in 2017, a real stand-out. ...

Re: Munster, The Money Pit Province 2019/2020

How many of Munster's first choice XV or even XXIII are not signings and under 30? Out of that number how many are there because they got ahead of signings due to injury or in spite of planning, e.g. Scannell ahead of Marshall is injury; if Casey is ahead of McCarthy it's a plan gone wrong; Hanraha...

Re: Leinster Academy 20-21

Does anyone else want Mark Hernan to join Munster just so that we can see the headline HERNAN MUNSTER ? *** Edited by mod *** Mildly is from Wexford, as far as I know. I don't think his opinions on Michael's players are informed by anything other than his knowledge of the rate of success they have ...

Re: Does the leinster backline lack passers/distributors outside 10?

We also haven't lost a noted passer like that since Carbery but we've been okay at using space. The ball doesn't exactly die with Henshaw. Wingers pass ok. Larmour is getting better at choosing when to do it. We tend to use different people as a 2nd playmaker rather than having a nominated one. We ...

Realistically ROL probably won't play wing so... possible depth chart:

11. Lowe/Kelleher/TOB
14. Kearney/Byrne/TOB
Exactly how I see it. I have been wrong many times before though!

Re: Wing going forward

I think we will see a good bit of Tommy O'Brien on the wing this season – not just as a wing, but he will get minutes there. He has got a winger's pace and played there extensively at age-grade level. He's also a guy that the coaching staff want to get involved and get up to speed. The lad is a big ...

Re: Scrumhalf going forward

TJ Perenara kinda shows one example how NZ gave up the no assholes policy too. If you ever catch him on ref mic he doesn't come across well. Quite a few times I heard him swearing at refs and not being called up on it. I've a lot of time for Perenara. I think his heart is in the right place [as per...

I see Chilliboy Ralepelle has been banned for 8 years for anabolic steroid use. Doping is sport is a pet topic of mine, it'd be great to bounce a few ideas off people and to read other opinions on this! Very interesting post. Just for the sake of clarity here, if I refer to South African rugby I am...

Re: Scrumhalf going forward

That was a cracking try! Outstanding running from the winger - he showed a lot of moves and a lot of pace. Really good support work from the No9, who really covers the ground very well and easily. He's one to keep an eye on. Needs to work on his groundings. I reckon he'd get absolutely smoked the n...
