Re: Leinster v La Rochelle Saturday 13th April 2024 at 5.30pm RTE2

Yes- that’s fair enough: sarcasm aside, of course. I will say Kidney was never anything as unpopular with Leinster fans as ROG. The dislike- don’t like using “hate”, is fairly visceral right now. But it may dissipate in time. And don’t underestimate the role of sentiment- if there’s an alternative ...

Re: Leinster v La Rochelle Saturday 13th April 2024 at 5.30pm RTE2

Do you think that ROGs antics and his standing with of Leinsters fans (and you would assume players) will hurt any future chances of being a future Irish coach? Absolutely, who can forget Ireland's grand slam triumph of 2009, coached as they were by the much loved Declan Kidney. Yes- that’s fair en...

Re: Leinster v La Rochelle Saturday 13th April 2024 at 5.30pm RTE2

Random thoughts after watching the game: A lot of my friends who support other provinces consider Larmour to be talented but flaky. Performances like this show that he is now the finished article who can step up if needed. It looked like Furlong was purposely put at Skelton to negate him and did ju...

It's surprising how little the Irish media have picked up on ROGs misogyny from the latest magazine feature he did.

It's hugely windy here in Northampton, I'm not watching the game but is it appearing to go one way more than the other? May play a big difference in the second half.

Re: Leinster v Leicester - Sat 6 April, 20.00 RTE2

Like the majestic Giraffe, there is no sight more enthralling than a second row at full gallop I find a diminutive Kiwi 9 at full stretch can reach the same heights sometimes. I assume he has dual citizenship? Anyway, Orish scrum half works even better if I could correct. I prefer Mike Ross's defin...

Re: Ireland vs Scotland, Saturday, 4.45pm

It’s a weird feeling to win the Six Nations but play so poorly. Maybe it’ll look different on rewatch Scotland’s defence was outstanding, but some of our decisions to kick for the corner were poor. We could have kicked a handy 9 points in that second half and been out of sight. Instead we were dang...

Of course they do but more often than not they're right.
Hence the phrase "there's no such a thing as a poor bookie"!!
Funnily enough I know who when went bust when literally every favourite won one day. Put him out of business.
His odds setting was particularly poor then.

At least a few years back even the BBC had the results and tables for AIL. Since then they've gutted their rugby coverage, but they had it at one point.

The strategy of kicking the ball to relieve territorial pressure was correct.

The tactical choice of the method, of box kicking, to implement the strategy was not.

The execution of the tactic was awful.

Re: England v Ireland Saturday 9th March 2024 4.45pmTwickenham

Surely if the winger gets in the scrum half way at the breakdown, then it's the wingers fault? If JGP did not come off his wing and get involved in play our attacking threat would have been much reduced and he would not have made Lowe’s second try. Getting invoved in play is one thing - getting bet...
