Re: A whiff of Cordite

Meh. O'Connor has to write a couple of articles a day, some of these are bound to crop up. Clearly Leinster set the standard at the moment, just as Ulster [in the 80s] and Munster [for much of the 00s] previously set the standard. I say this pretty frequently [so apologies for repeating myself], bu...

Re: Munster in the Aviva, August 22nd, 7.35pm KO

Confirmed. https://twitter.com/munsterrugby/status/1295670884850638848?s=21 No more toys for Munster until they stop breaking them. All Limerick refereeing team for Saturday. Andy Brace in the middle with George Clancy and Joy Neville doing the line. Would be fairly shocking if true - if there's an...

Re: Energia All Ireland Competitions Season 2020-21

Was there not for years AIL structure with uneven home/away games. Not ideal but everyone plays everyone. It's for one season Aren't fixtures pretty much set/made online so no bias comes into it. The all Ireland plate and bowl are only for this season so the league format most likely is also only fo...

Re: Munster, The Money Pit Province 2019/2020

Fixing = improvement I’m saying that if the schools and underage development programs didn’t do anything differently (consciously) but the academy players start consistently breaking fully in the Munster 1st team, then standards would improve in the schools. what percentage of coaches in most of th...

Re: Munster, The Money Pit Province 2019/2020

Academies are built on a virtuous cycle. Schoolboys in Leinster know that they’ll get looked after if they make it to the academy. They won’t all make it but they will probably get a shot. Can a kid in a Munster school look at Munster’s squad and say the same thing. Maybe they are less likely to be...

Re: Munster, The Money Pit Province 2019/2020

Interesting discussion. Just my two cents as a Munster supporter. Firstly I’ve no interest in a parochial interprovincial shitfight. Bores me to tears. They’re all Irish players and the more high quality guys the Irish system produces the better I think If looking from outside over a 10 year stretc...

Will Seymour(Centre/Pres Bray) also in Leinster u18 schools training squad. Where are these squads? Do you have an official squad list? there isnt a full official squad list. Clubs and schools may post their players who've been asked to train with the squads but that's it Wont be a complete list un...

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20

Another wrinkle here is we seem to get no leaks from Nuicfora's camp on his designs. Irish rugby is a leaky bucket with whatsapps, texts, team selections flinging every which way to players, members of the public, and journalists. But we hear nothing from Nucifora, from example are his offices base...

Top 50 U20 players in the world. https://www.rugbypass.com/news/the-top-50-u20-rugby-players-in-the-world It's a decent list with some broad scope research but some of the UK based suggestions may be over-rated. The development of some players either hits a wall or accelerates at this age and certa...

Re: All Ireland League - Thread

Shame there isnt more comments on the league... Con will be first in 1A. Garryowen should be safe in a playoff spot. 3rd and 4th spots between UCD, Lansdowne and the cookies Relegation between Ballynahinch, UCC and Trinity Highfield close enough to going straight from 2A to 1A in consecutive seasons...

Castleknock Mary's. Poor game today. Cant see knock making final
Not bad from Roscrea to only lose by 4 points to nure. Numbers in Roscrea are always small but it's not as much a problem at senior level but very much is at junior.

Re: Irl v Sco 6Ns 2020

Well I've no problem with referee feedback though I do think the Welsh approach with a full press media assault needs to be stomped on harshly. And the New Zealand fans sending Wayne Barnes death threats should have resulted in severe punishment for the NZRFU. But it didn't. It won't be. And since ...

Re: Sevens

Munsters new skills development coach, New Zealander Mike Pettman, said 7s is "massive" for players to develop skills. A Nucifora approved hire espouses the virtues of a Nucifora pet project! Or is my cynicism getting the better of me? The players also say it. I'm not a big fan of the sport but I c...

Re: U20 Club 2019/20

Any update/thoughts on the other 20s divisions? At least leinster run these unlike Munster. Ulster have no U20 league. Queens do play in Conroy Cup but that's only 1 weekend. They don't put teams forward for the Fraser McMullen Cup. Connacht teams (UCG, Galwegians & Buccaneers play in the the Leins...

Navan struggling in 1B after going straight up from 2B to 2A to 1B in successive seasons
Will be interesting to see how appeal about postponed games goes?
Underage still as strong as ever. Hopefully will see more pro players emerge from here as potential is huge
