Re: Schools Rugby 23/24

71 for Blackrock. That’s incredible all the same. They might not do it next year given only 2 starters back next year but they won’t be too far off given majority of the replacements were 4th / 5th year. Who else will be strong next year? Michaels was mostly 6th year so might not be that strong? As...

Re: Schools Rugby 23/24

It's often struck me that big (predominantly GAA) schools in the heart of various Leinster strongholds, are rich seams for Leinster rugby to mine ..... St Benildus college, Oatlands and Colaiste Eoin are nestled between St Michaels and Blackrock ..... Firhouse community college, Coláiste Eanna, plu...

Re: Schools Rugby 23/24

This was a much more comprehensive win for Terenure than the match report (below) suggests. The understandable decision by the Terenure coaches to unload their bench, in two tranches, at the beginning of the final quarter, coupled with a Referee apparently intent on "leveling up" the cont...

Re: Aviva Atmosphere - Are the fans the problem?

Being pedantic Leinster Rugby predates most of the clubs in the province. From my own perspective I got into rugby through school and have never had or felt any affiliation to a club. I'd wager there are a fair number of people in the same situation as myself, particularly in Dublin. But leinster w...

Re: Aviva Atmosphere - Are the fans the problem?

Ehhhhhh................ no Any guys brought up in rugby surely still support their own club. There is and was rugby before Munster Rugby, Leinster Rugby, Ulster Rugby and Connacht Rugby came along you know. Which club are you affiliated to? How often would you see a club match? Being pedantic Leins...

Re: AIL 23/24

Where can I get up to date fixture lists for the games (as opposed to historic scores?) The Irish rugby website is impossible to navigate The Energia AIL app is useless Even the club websites are shite It's as if the AIL is actively trying to discourage casual fan attendance Ia irfu site that diffi...

Re: AIL 23/24

Congrats to Terenure winning, and retaining the Bateman Cup in the Final against Young Munster by 22-15. Excellent game and two really good tries for Terenure in second half to snatch victory from the 'Cookies' who played very well, particularly with their maul. Rudhan Quinn is definitely ready for...

Re: Schools Rugby 23/24

They were 14-17 down at HT and 14-30 down with 20 to go. These schools have improved hugely in the last decade due to the senior league competition and are probably among the four favourites for the SCT. They are battle-hardened by playing in the league. It's time that they were moved up and two ot...

Re: Schools Rugby 23/24

Does each school choose whether to play in the League or does the Branch determine the participants? It’s all the schools outside the Big 6 that play in the league Can Terenure and Mary’s really call themselves part of the big 6 at this stage? Based off history yes but neither have done anything at...

Schools choose to play. All the 6 non league schools should really have an official league for their fixtures they play each other pre Christmas.

Re: Schools Rugby 23/24

Was chatting with a mate over pints last weekend and heard something pretty disturbing. A very sporty kid who he coached for underage rugby and gaa stopped turning up for both, he met the kids dad by chance who told him that his kid had been asked to sign a “declaration” in school that the only spo...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Are Salanoa and/or Knox injured, or should we be doing expecting to see a lot of the Archer/Ryan combo this season? Also looking forward to seeing how EdEd and Ahern go this season. Would be great to add more competition to Ireland's second row stocks. Salanoa injured. Out for a bit. Knox expected ...
