Re: Leinster vs Glasgow - Friday 28th April - We go again
so only the nominal honour of topping the league to play for. Does it effect the seeding for next Season's Champions Cup or is that decided on how you do in the play-offs? No - ranking of Pro 12 team is overall winners, overall runners up, highest placed losing semi finalist, lowest placed losing s...

Re: Munster 2016-2017
Sarries are essentially munster from 10 years - brutally efficient- hope Leinster go on to win it but very hard to see Sarries being beaten tbh Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk I'd have to disagree, Munster were Munster from 10 years ago and that was the problem. More variety was needed. Munste...

Re: EPCR SEMI-FINAL V CLERMONT
Hard luck yesterday - a fair result imo and probably indicative of where Leinster are at atm - very good but a little bit off the top European level - great bones in that squad - simply cannot afford openings to games like that against the top opposition I think sarries will win the final easily tho...

Re: Munster 2016-2017
What I can't understand is why Munster haven't got a scrum half on the bench Wouldn't be surprised by a late change - Lloyd is obviously travelling - very very questionable decision - while we are probably only down 2 starters it does show up our depth - if no sh cover then 6/2 split would seem to ...

Re: The looking forward to the Lions Tour thread
The questionable Welsh decisions are moriarty, Biggar, Davies and halfpenny - Biggar got in ahead of ford or Russell- not much in it there and he has gone for the safe option. Moriarty is a biased selection. The other two are there on experience and reputation - lot to be said for that. 10 Welsh wou...

Re: The looking forward to the Lions Tour thread
Jonny Gray and Zander Fagerson are very unlucky and Sinkler, Lawes and Moriarty are very, very lucky. Scotland might also have had open-side flanker (Watson?) selected. Happy for Best and Payne and hope that Healy is on stand-by. Marler will survive but not prosper in NZ. Poor call to select Lawes ...

Re: The looking forward to the Lions Tour thread
While Scotlands numbers are small Nel and Jones weren't an option , Watson lost out to tip uric, laidlaw lost out to youngs Russell to Biggar - not sure I disagree with any of those calls - maybe laidlaw - J gray is the obvious one who should have been picked

Re: The looking forward to the Lions Tour thread
Ring rose isn't exactly a gatland type and they were never going to bring him and Joseph. Henderson lucky launch bury and gray probably more deserving. Moriarty luckiest of them lot Surprised by Payne but flexibility and advantage and the kind of guy who slots in very easily if required. Sent from m...

Re: The other semi
So assuming CJ is out who plays in the Munster backrow? And who benches? Deysl has a lot of fitness work to do and I think Oliver has almost done enough for the bench. Start Peter, Tommy, Jack with Deysl as lock cover and Oliver as backrow? Oliver would be the form pick definitely but the 4 back ro...

Re: The other semi
This is what I said about Munster Munster are an okay side, not much more, who have been boosted by external motivation and an avant-garde application of the foreign player rules and Back in October, when both sides had pretty much their full selections available to them, give or take, Leinster gav...

Re: The other semi
It kind of balances out to be honest and if you can judge the difficulty then it depends on how much credence you give to home advantage. I think Sarries are better than Clermont and if it was a final at a neutral venue I'd be more confident playing Clermont - wouldn't be too keen on trading home ad...

Re: The other semi
Doubts over bleyendall, murray, Ryan, stander, earls and keatley- I think Ryan and bleyendall likely to be OK. Will not win without murray and stander. Will struggle without one - very central to the whole gameplan

Re: The looking forward to the Lions Tour thread
There was a good article yesterday in the ST by Stuart Barnes. He was making the point that it's not as simple as 'pick the form player' or 'pick the best players in each position'. That's the armchair view of matters, but it doesn't work out quite so neatly in practice. Gatland needs to devise a p...

Re: Munster 2016-2017
I know nothing will stop the trolls - I'm not a fan of the ignore button but threads are pretty unreadable with shite like this being posted continuously Two quarter finals Munster - 4 NIQ in 23 (2+2 - Taute, Bleyendall, Marshall, Sailli ), 1 Residency Qualified (Stander), 1 IQ developed elsewhere ...

Re: The looking forward to the Lions Tour thread
Well in so far as a player with 50 caps can be a bolter then he would be one - don't see it though - Best, Hartley, George, Owens, Brown all ahead of him - he offers ssomething else as an impact sure but not certain that Gatland really wants impact from his hookers - probably wants nuts and bolts as...
