Re: A whiff of Cordite
JvG was a political master. It was never his fault. He had a first season, then he needed a full season with preseason, then he had new assistant coaches and they needed time. There was a clearout or two along the way. Next thing you know he was there 6 years and it was still give him time to see i...

Re: A whiff of Cordite
You are aware as Gay Byrne put it many years ago. "A nation of begrudgers" So don't hold your breadth. On that topic the late, great Breandán Ó hEithir published in 1986 the fabulously dark-humoured "Begrudger's Guide to Irish Politics", described on the website abebooks.co.uk a...

Fair enough. I’m finished on this for now.The Doc wrote:Lads... There's a very tetchy mode on here (not just this thread) over the last couple of weeks. Probably not unrelated to the run in and last year's events.
Might be nice to take a breath before responding sometimes.

Re: A whiff of Cordite
Rather I suggested, in terms, that we should be less sensitive to imagined or minor slights. and others are looking at the collection of slights (your word) as more than the sum of their parts. When they are consistently repeated as gospel, actual truth gets lost and the accepted nbarrative becomes...

Re: The quickening 2024
There absolutely was a reason. Probably a few less talked about actually like costs. You can debate the merits of them but they exist. You’re correct: there are reasons. They are just not good reasons. So, yes- I’ll certainly debate the lack of merits. Aside from the damaging loss of points - and I...

A whiff of Cordite
not that fans of other provinces will accept that the gap of direct financing at least is not that big. They wont have to as long as the media continues to push the simplified narrative. We are already seeing it repeated in the UK media and I'm sure we'll hear more and more of it before the Northam...

Re: The quickening 2024
There was absolutely no reason for Leinster not to field a REALLY strong side (of exclusively front line players) against the Lions, and then fly anyone needed for the Saints game home a full 11 days before the Croke park semi ..... with 4 or 5 points in the bag. Then send an academy side out again...

Re: The quickening 2024
You'd have to imagine the coaches are prepared for all outcomes, including losing to the Lions. If they haven't a plan, then that'd be a pretty glaring problem. So I highly doubt we'll see anyone fly out to SA. It's incredibly unlikely. We've got a team preparing for a sold out European semi-final ...

Re: A whiff of Cordite
Well, maybe I’m not as sensitised to it as some of you are. And I repeat, so what if he is biased? It’s like a game here sometimes, rivalling to pick up some slight. C’mon! Again I'll repeat it doesnt bother me watching him, but on the point of so what?, people like this can have an influence. For ...

Re: A whiff of Cordite
He’s from Cork, so he’s biased. And worse than that he’s Cork Con biased- and not to accept that is nonsense? Is that right? Bias doesnt usually bother me when they dont try to disguise it. Go Easy has never tried to hide it. Its weird to me that you dont see it. Well, maybe I’m not as sensitised t...

Re: The quickening 2024
There’s surely no chance of us flying players out for the second game? I’d have rather expected players to fly home. Why not reinforce? Indeed, why bring players back home? We need a win on this trip. We screwed up royally against the Lions, so the expectation/ calculation that we could soft pedal ...

Re: A whiff of Cordite
It’s all very well to say not to engage or be bothered with Leinster bashing but there is a distinct possibility that the rules will be changed to disadvantage Leinster. Never mind that Munster are the current URC champions. Never mind that Munster used to be way ahead of Leinster when demographics...

A whiff of Cordite
“Leinster have the money, Munster have the points.” Daire O’Briain on RTE. It’s not journalism but it’s fine, and even funny. But can we stop the pretence that the Irish rugby media is impartial? How Munster fans, with a straight face, still claim the rugby media and establishment is against them i...

Re: The quickening 2024
The Stormers weren’t great against the Ospreys. We should be able to get something next week. Even one point helps. If we reinforce the squad with some front-liners, there’s no reason we can’t beat the Stormers next week. It’s at sea level against an opposition that’s bruised themselves. Three or f...

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2
Not sure the selection was so bad, the performance was just terrible. A total sh1t show. Leinster had 62% possession, 73% territory, 232 passes vs 86 for Lions, Lions made 164 tackles vs 67 for Leinster - yet Lions carried for 449m vs 370m for Leinster and scored 44 points vs 12. Just shows how bad...

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2
Cullens crazy , yes crazy selection decisions could leave us with nothing again this year. He got it badly wrong v Munster last Yr and got it wrong again today . Why not send stronger squad for 1 game here? We will be down to 3rd by next wk. We will have to see what we are made of now with games on...

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2
very strong line up. Definitely good enough for 5 pts, would be amazing if we could pick up 1npts v stormers after main guys head home after lions game Not according to PP's anyway. They have Lions at 4 point favorites. I think Paddy Power is right. It will be tight- and I’ll be pleasantly surprise...
