Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2

They always quote prices before teams are announced and then change them once they are. They probably have a fair guess at the likekly squad and they also use previous years results in calculations. I’d say they don’t have a rashers of the squad. Regardless, I wouldn’t see Lions as favourites. It’s...

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2

The bookies have this as 1 to 2 points in favour of Lions. Don't know how they can quote any price without knowing the squad. Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2

Molony isn't going play for Ireland so he's dead right to get experiences in other ways, he owes us nothing and with the guys coming up behind him and the ones already ahead of him, then he's caught in a squeeze. Good for him getting a contract with a fine club where he will quickly become a fan-fa...

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2

It would mean sending a bigger squad and paying for extra flights. Not everyone can afford a week in Fota to save 6 hours travel time. Jenkins has played 3 weeks in a row, 15 games this season and with Ryan gone we're tighter at lock. The only upside is that he'd be glad of a trip home. If we don't...

Re: Ross Molony leaving Leinster

Beating heart of the club over the past series of seasons. He probably should have remained it for a few more: his presence will be missed and there is no replacement of sufficient calibre lined up either. An underrated, unselfish warrior. 2021-23, he had two exceptional seasons, and deserved an Iri...

Re: Jordi Barrett to sign for Leinster

Rumoured Max Deegan is leaving and Ed Byrne. While Lasisi, Murphy, Cosgrave are being released from academy. Talk of Brownlee/Turner being courted to move south or north. Faster contract season is over the better. Deegan has to go. He's had a brilliant season and is no closer to the Euro squad. I'l...

Re: Jordi Barrett to sign for Leinster

Box Office move.. Munster fans only jealous that its not them. Sure, they wouldn't know what to do with him. It'd be like expecting a McLaren to do the work of a combine. They'd know exactly what to do with them. They sign international centres every season and get them to play below their potentia...

Re: Jordi Barrett to sign for Leinster

Ps for those moaning about our transfer policy, first we ain’t finished and second believe in our coaching team to get it right, they have not let us down since Leo took over. I don't think I've seen anyone moaning about us signing Jordie Barrett on here... I would imagine there is plenty of it on ...

Re: Jordi Barrett to sign for Leinster

Agree. And loose head and scrumhalf as well before centre We need neither a loosehead nor a scrum half. In fact, we probably have one loosehead too many. He plays every position from 10 - 15. We have already signed a second row and there is zero possibility we can sign another NIQ there. This signi...

Re: Jordi Barrett to sign for Leinster

Can’t see much point in that signing at all. We need, in that order, a second row, wing and tighthead. With Henshaw, Ringrose, Osborne, Turner, Frawley, JOB, Keenan and some good academy prospects, I can’t see the point in signing at 12/15. It’s a hell of a lot of money for not much need. However, i...

A perfect back to have for any 6-2 split
Is the McKenzie rumour getting legs again??
Not McKenzie
James O'Connor?

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2

How many points do we need to pick up in SA to ensure home fixtures for URC knockouts? As Myles said, check JohnG's ever excellent Quickening thread. If we come either first or second, we have home quarters and semis. However, if we were to come second and make a final, and if Bulls come first and ...

Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2

I guess we’ll find out today what approach we’re taking to the squad. Will all players who fly tomorrow stay for two games? We really need to get at least 5 points from this block and preferably more, if we want to prevent a potential final at altitude in South Africa. A win this weekend seems almos...

Re: Leinster v La Rochelle Saturday 13th April 2024 at 5.30pm RTE2

Just watched the highlights back. For our first try Osborne makes a great clear out on Botia when Sheehan is tackled. Unglamorous work but vital as Botia wasn’t far off turning it over. Botia hardly got a sniff yesterday. The couple of bites he got, he was quickly dealt with. It was a joy to see, p...

Re: A whiff of Cordite

Which “journalist” asked Leo, in the press conference preview for the game, about O’Mahony’s contract? I thought Leo’s answer was perfect. I hope whoever it was realised how stupid and inappropriate it was, and felt suitably humiliated. I didn't hear, what was asked? I don’t know the precise questi...

Re: Leinster v La Rochelle Saturday 13th April 2024 at 5.30pm RTE2

I wouldn’t waste any more air on him. This win was all about our coaches. Very similar sides to previous encounters but they made our group finally perform to their full potential against this opponent. How Leo handled the week was impeccable. If the Irish meeja really want to big up an Irish coach,...
