Re: Leinster v Northampton Saints - EPCR Semi-Final Croke Park 4th May

The Doc wrote: April 19th, 2024, 1:58 pm Northampton must be delighted they got us away (financially speaking)
Semi final money goes to epcr and the teams get prize money for getting to the semi finals.

Most teams are financially happy to get us in qf or round of 16.

Re: Leinster move to Aviva Stadium for 24/25

There are 12.5k season tickets. We sold c. 42k seats for the Leicester game and just managed to sell out a quarter final against our sworn enemy in a massive match. Who in their right mind thinks we should be playing matches in Croke Park? I presume they will change their mind once they see how bad...

Re: Jordi Barrett to sign for Leinster

did the outrage over central contracts start after Sheehan got his CC or after Barrett chose to come to Ireland, instead of France or Japan for his sabbatical? There was some bitching and moaning about Sheehan (not because of Sheehan, no one will say he doesn't deserve it) but for the effect it has...

Re: Rumour Mill

Would be almost unprecedented for a player at McCarthy's stage to move, no? A guy just heading into Year 2 Academy? Was Sam Illo in the leinster academy before he headed to Connacht. I can't find any good sources other than the Connacht website claiming that he was. If he was he would have been goi...

Agreed. I'd do a lot to keep McCarthy.
curates_egg wrote: April 17th, 2024, 8:17 am I would argue he is also our best backrow in the lineout, and is up there with POM.
I think Baird is better at the lineout. Otherwise I completely agree with you.

Big Spenders???[emoji2955] I really like Jim Hamilton, but he’s infected with this virus that need us as being super-resourced vis-a-vis their bloody Premiership! We are big spenders - there's no need to be embarrassed about it. Irish provinces have large budgets - in comparison to the Premiership ...

TB retired at 29 after a 5 year injury ruined run with Munster. He did coaching badges while still at Munster.

Re: Jordi Barrett to sign for Leinster

Fair enough. I do believe we get some prize money for semi final and final appearances.

It's worth noting that we pay rent for Aviva appearances but that money goes to the IRFU so probably puts us in their good books.

Looks very light to only travel with 5 props, when one of them is Jager who is just a few weeks post knee surgery. The decision to release Keynan Knox mid-year looks increasingly baffling, and the only conclusion on Academy THP Darragh McSweeney must be that they don't rate him at all. Knox require...

Home Round of 16 and QF of Champions Cup 22/23 (Exclude SF as ERC get a large chunk) Leinster - 78.7k While I generally agree with you there's revenue sharing for champions cup knockout games 65/35 after costs in favour of the home team if they leave their regular stadium to go to a bigger venue.

Re: Lions v Leinster - Sat 20 April, 14.00 - RTE2

There's also the factor that he is probably worth more to Bath than to us (I don't mean in a playing sense) - being EQ, they either get credit against the salary cap or some exemption. There is definitely a financial implication that means he will probably have a better deal. We still have to be pr...

Re: Jordi Barrett to sign for Leinster

Ps for those moaning about our transfer policy, first we ain’t finished and second believe in our coaching team to get it right, they have not let us down since Leo took over. I'm one of the most negative and I'm merely concerned. We need a TH. If we are spending political capital to get irfu to ap...

Re: Rumour Mill

Barrett is a FB isn’t he? Don’t really understand why we’ve signed him as we have Keenan, Frawley and JOB who can play FB and Wing. Would have thought that we have a more pressing need at THP in the light of Alalatoa’s impending departure. He has played more time at fullback in his career but has b...

Mixed feelings about this.

Amazing player but we need a tighthead and any foreign signing makes me worry we won't get one.

Also I worry that we will lose players.

Not just expected, he has to play in the Madrid 7s, otherwise hes not eligible for Olympic selection. Olympic selection rules demand appearances in 3 7s tournaments in the two years before the Olympics. Isn't that international elibility transfers only? Nope its the Olympic rules. Nothing to do wit...
