Re: Corona Virus

Yeah contact tracing is and has been a shambles. I don't have a TV. How could there be evidence to support a 5km limit? It's a blunt rule to stop congregating and to slow the geographical spread. I haven't seen the evidence for communion and GAA games. It doesn't stop congregating though. If you sh...

Re: Corona Virus

Paul Colgan @paulcolgan Ireland's lockdown shows just what a slender tight-rope Irish society and its economy now treads until a vaccine arrives. It appears NPHET's acceptable threshold for lifting the most severe restrictions is a daily case count below 100 - which it models will happen by 6 weeks...

Re: Corona Virus

I think the bank guarantee was a mistake and it worried me at the time. Corona virus is on the rise. They've been raising restriction levels and telling people they are going to raise then further if it keeps accelerating. They're trying to balance restrictions against disruptions and while I dont ...

Lvl 5 for 6 weeks, what a sh!t show. Haven't been this angry at a goverment since the bank bailout. Why? WHere to start? Made a balls of the TAT system. Didn't make any kind of plan for an alternative to rolling lockouts(this will likely be the first for the next 6 months). I think they've given NP...

For those talking about herd immunity : Genomic evidence for reinfection with SARS-CoV-2: a case study Findings The patient had two positive tests for SARS-CoV-2, the first on April 18, 2020, and the second on June 5, 2020, separated by two negative tests done during follow-up in May, 2020. Genomic...

Re: Corona Virus

'Herd immunity' in a pandemic is a theoretical concept cited in the aftermath of an outbreak as to why incidence of disease has fallen to near zero. According to WHO, there is no recorded incidence of 'herd immunity' being implemented, in history, in a community wide infectious outbreak of disease,...

New IFR estimated at 0.23%. If 70% of us caught it that's 8k dead over 1-2 years(it would take 1-2 years to infect 70% of people). Increasingly feel like we've over reacted(which was the correct coiurse at the beginning.

Re: Corona Virus

On the transfer of wealth (debt), the devil is in the detail. just listening to RTE, personal savings in Ireland have risen by 11bn this year a lot more than an average year I imagine. Some of those savings are due to government handouts, some are due to literally not being able to spend income oth...

Re: Corona Virus

Did Meath really have 186 cases today, up from "only" 38 yesterday? Ratoath won the county championship Sunday before last and a 3 day bender ensued. Same in Kingsocurt, Killeshandra, Kilnaleck and Moycullen. Those are the ones I know of. It turns out people who have to work in between playing are ...

Re: Corona Virus

Is that really surprsing? At one point there was 30m on unemployment in the US, we'll probably top 20% here. So by addition and subration the wealthy are wealthier. This is a bit like looking at GDP numbers and seeing them going up and deducing that everything must be good(or in this case bad) thoug...

Re: Corona Virus

I've come around to the view that the disease was more prevalent in March/April but we were less on the trail of the disease than we are now. I think the PCR test is too sensitive and it's picking up dead samples and reporting them as live(i.e people who had the disease and are no longer infected).T...

Re: Corona Virus

I do like reading your posts on this, ideas right or wrong are all good. You're correct about TaT but if it was done right and isolation guidelines were followed the numbers would drop massively, but neither are happening. Leo was right, Tony scared the sh!t out of the country and went to the media...

Re: Corona Virus

Leak was from Leo. So technically not the top... Nah it was NPHET. They did the same thing with moving Dublin to level 3. Even had Nolan on twitter explaining(pre cabinet meeting) that the data was misleading because they hadn't bothered to test and trace beyond 48 hours(haing demanded restaurants ...

Re: Pro 14 2020-2021 season

As a spectacle, a B&I league would be the far greater attraction for all involved. But it would play havoc with our ability to rest players and manage game time, especially if there was relegation involved. I agree with Hugo above FWIW, the 'Pro 16' is a frankenstein league with no real logic behin...

Re: Pro 14 2020-2021 season

These games are during the 8 nations in November. No way anyone is getting in to see them I reckon. And if they are it will be an experimental 200 or so. Not enough to trouble the concessionaires either way Depends on who gets to go. If Pilotman gets a ticket then that’s actually 800 people. ...
