Re: The WTF thread
I can testify that the "Discounts" line, on the leap card, is a load of b*%&!x.Broken Wing wrote:For comparison purposes, here are the standard adult fares as per the Dublin Bus website:Broken Wing wrote:Dublin Bus Leap Card Adult fares:
From Driver Validator
Shoppers City Centre Fare €0.50
Stages 1 – 3 €1.20
Stages 4 – 7 €1.65
Stages 8 – 13 €1.85
Over 13 Stages € 2.30
From Validator on Right Hand Side
Over 13 Stages €2.20
Adult Fares
Stages 1 – 3 €1.20
Stages 4 – 7 €1.65
Stages 8 – 13 €1.85
Over 13 Stages €2.30
So no savings on the fare and you have to queue up with those paying cash meaning after millions of euro and ten years of development the only benefit of this card for bus users is that you don't have to have exact change but to reap that reward you'll have to pay €5.
Stunning.
I saw the new fares advertised on the bus this morning. The leap card fare is up 5-10 cent on what you currently pay. However, there are huge penalties for those paying cash.
e.g. the Current €1.65 fare will increase to €1.70 for leap card users, but for those paying cash it's being increased up to €1.95.

God, it looks mild now, when you measure it up against spear tackles, high tackles and other forms of foul play that are more commonplace in today's game.

The GAA would be in competition with the Irish Tiddlywinks society if it meant more money for them. They must be getting worried with the rise in the popularity of rugby and now the success of the soccer team, and the drop in CP attendances over the past two years. Takings at the start of next years...
