Re: Wing going forward

It's probably more telling to look at the results of sevens in terms of value provided to 15s. The more professional it's gotten the further it has moved to it's own very specific athletic demands and less focus on 15s skills and requirements. 7s isn't a way to deliberately up-skill a player for 15...

Maro staying, it seems. Maro Itoje: England lock signs new 'long-term' deal at Saracens https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/53443359 Am I missing something here? Sarries were demoted because they broke the financial rules. They are now playing in a division with a much lower income and they jus...

Re: Barry Daly

19 tries in 36 appearances is some record. Think he might have been able to get himself a contract somewhere and would have loved to see him at Connacht but he's got a scholarship to study at Boston College so a great opportunity for him. Sorry to see him go, he was a cracking player.

Re: Sexton's last season? Outhalf going forward..

Some good but unproven talent coming through. I think Frawley is the real deal on talent and ability, he reminds me of Paul Dean in that he glides across the pitch so effortlessly. He doesn't have Dean's distribution skills yet but he has a great boot. If we look after this kid he could be one of th...

Drico, Darce, Jamie and Isa. That assuming Davey Hollwell's brief period with us doesn't qualify him. Assume none of these have links to slavery?

Re: Leinster greatest coach??

Joe as an individual, one of the world's greatest ever coaches in my opinion. That being said, I'm not sure there would have been a Joe with Checks. We always had an abundance of talent but mentally we were all wrong. Checks changed the culture of the club, created a winning mentality and won stuff....

Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.

Think Reid's Leinster days are behind him, especially given the productiveness of the Academy. He'd be a great signing for Connacht though with the possibility to cover outhalf and center. Hope he picks something up, great talent and very selfless for us.

That's superb news for us. I assume this is a Leinster rather than IRFU contract?

They might but European rugby is a financial mess as a result of COVID so most clubs will be looking to shed rather than recruit I'd imagine.

Interesting that an Italian international is being released and an import stays. That wouldn't happen in Ireland.

JP has never invested in or financially supported Munster Rugby save for match tickets and pints. He does however support Limerick GAA financially. He is also an investor in the Limerick Rugby Museum, which is a private enterprise His big money 'donation' was supposed to be the JP McManus Internati...

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20

15 is different though because is so similar to wing and you don't have the same game management pressures as at 10. That's a myth that needs exploding. That is why people think they can take any wing at all or indeed any centre and slot him into FB. That is so wrong. It is a specialist position an...

Re: Ben T'eo

He's a serious athlete who was great for us and played in a Lions test. But not sure he has anywhere near the skillset to have been a 'great'! He was badly coached under MOC. If he'd played under Schmidt his work on would have been distribution which I think might have been a game changer for him. ...

"Brisbane is home to me and the Broncos have always looked after me and I feel welcome here - this is the perfect place to let me play." Yeah right. Super talent, could have been one of the rugby union greats had he made different choices.

Re: BOD memories

The one incident that really marked BOD out from the pack. Prelude - Two Aussies taking Trevor Brennan on and basically assaulting him, his mates did SWA about it and I have a vague recollection that Brennan got carded or sent off, even, later in the game. BOD's first cap as captain was against Aus...

Re: Covid-19: Are the players taking pay cuts?

I think it goes a bit deeper than that, it's about how we value contributions to society. The massive inequality between the likes of footballers, celebrities, tax exiles and people who make significant contributions to society is seen by many as wrong and unfair. There's also the issue of decency ...

Re: Champions Cup 2020

Nothing about refunds for Saracens game or the final. If the game and tournament is cancelled, maybe we should not look for refunds. Our club will be in desperate need of the cash. Individual circumstances vary for every ticket holder, I know, but if by not seeking a refund it means that a signific...
