Re: Munster in the Aviva, August 22nd, 7.35pm KO

We've lost Tomane, McFadden and Salanoa and as a squad are weaker than last season. They've gained two world class, world cup winning boks, Salanoa and Gallagher, and as a squad are significantly stronger. They'll be missing Carbery but we'll be missing two of our three best forwards (Leavy, Ryan)....

Re: Squidge

He makes good videos and brings some much needed exposure to tier 2 rugby. Ive been following the MLR since its inception and its really exciting to see where its going. His comments around Folau however are embarrassing. It annoys me to see sports administrators - people who wouldn't have jobs if ...

Re: Tighthead Prop going forward

Furlong and Porter need game time before the internationals start, so they’re available for the end of the season. Once they go into camp we will see how we are. Maybe we try with Bent and Clarkson while Aungier and Salanoa ride pine. Funny how often that happens. Clarkson will probably be in the m...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

My understanding was that Kruis would still be available for the qf because the Japanese season doesn't start till the new year.

Re: Wing going forward

I think we will see a good bit of Tommy O'Brien on the wing this season – not just as a wing, but he will get minutes there. He has got a winger's pace and played there extensively at age-grade level. He's also a guy that the coaching staff want to get involved and get up to speed. The lad is a big...

Re: Munster, The Money Pit Province 2019/2020

Salanoa seemed a bit lost to me - as if he didn't really know where to position himself because he wasn't a natural reader of the game. Has excellent mechanics and power and speed obviously, which makes him an interesting prospect. You'd almost want to stick him in at no. 8 and get him carrying off ...

Re: Pro 14 - General Thread

Yeah. A single table would help to mitigate concerns about differing conference strength. And it'd make it easier for fans to know where their team stands.

Re: Pro 14 - General Thread

The format I saw mooted back when there were murmurings about the Pumas and the Griquas joining was four conferences: Irish conference Leinster Munster Ulster Connacht SA conference Cheetahs Kings Pumas Griquas Welsh conference Scarlets Ospreys Dragons Blues Scottish/Italian conference Glasgow Edinb...

Re: Scrumhalf going forward

Don't know how you could say Murray wasn't world class. He was absolutely one of the best in the world between about 2013 and 2018 and arguably *the* best for a time.

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

I meant this as a reply to wixfjord in the second row going forward thread, but maybe it makes more sense to put it here. I've been a bit underwhelmed by Ruddock lately. It's interesting reading his comments on Fitzgerald's podcast after he was omitted from Farrell's 6N squad announced in the middle...

Re: Wing going forward

Smith is probably the most exciting prospect?

His tackling needs a bit of work from what I've seen. Maybe 7s would be a good route for him to improve that.

His try rate was phenomenal.

Lowe: 3345 mins, 28 tries, try every 119min28sec
Daly: 1973 mins, 19 tries, try every 103min51sec

Pity about the injuries.

Fardy at 6 and Baird as the bench lock. That's the way I'd be leaning for Saracens.

Re: Leinster Academy 19/20

I think it's premature to say O'Sullivan is unlikely to make it based on him being involved with the 7s. It's a route that's worked well for Keenan and JOB, and not just something they fall into if they're not good enough.

Re: Leinster Squad 20-21

It's like that with the Springboks quite a lot - huge forwards, but a good number of small, nippy backs - guys like aplon, kolbe, paulse, brent russell.

Re: Loosehead Prop going forward

I wouldn't have any misgivings about Dooley and Byrne as no. 1 and no. 2. I think they're both excellent players. Byrne's injury record would have to be a concern, though. It might just be a case of getting another squad player in there so there's sufficient depth - someone coming off the u20s if th...
