Re: Friday's rant

The tv licence. For the last couple of years, the only things I've watched on rte are soccer and rugby internationals, the gaa championship and rugby on tg4. All of those would be available on commercial channels including free to air ones if rte hadn't competed for the rights. I find rte radio spor...

Re: Donnacha Ryan to Racing rumours

Well then the king is dead (almost), long live the king. Darren O'Shea looks the part, hopefully he can step up as Niall Scannell has.
He won't be lacking for advice if he wants it anyway with POC there.

Re: Munster 2016-2017

Everything was going grand and then came the Murray injury, then the Donnacha Ryan news and finally the rumours about Rassie going back to SA.
We need a win tomorrow to turn this around.

Re: Box Sets... The Next One ???

The Expanse, season one is on netflix, it's great. Season two is made and a third will be. I don't really like space science fiction, can't stand star trek, for example, but this is a cut above. It's set 200 years in the future and is based around political shenanigans between Earth and Mars (former...

I agree with you. If they do win that match, they have a home semi final and final. We'll worth backing them with a tenner to win the thing at 33-1.
That's what Paddy Power want you to think! :D

@hugonaut, yes Ryle Nugent I should have said, lol! No idea where I got Dwyer from.
He's on tv but talks too much even for a radio commentator, it's like cattle-rattle

Re: Ireland v France Sat 25th Feb 2017 4.50pm

zebo wasn't himself, I think he was carrying an injury all match.

Ryle Dwyer is a dreadful commentator. He just never ever shuts up.
The guy who did the Scotland Wales match is far better.
But I believe i heard that Ryle is the head of RTE sport so he's nailed on for
the main game.

Re: Sneak Peak - RDS Redevelopment Plans

Why spend money renting the RDS when the Aviva's just over the road?
Aviva has about twice the capacity of Thomond Park.
Dublin has over ten times the population of Limerick.
The aviva if anything should too small for Leinster
Where's the flaw in the logic?

Re: Munster 2016-2017

Re: European Rugby Champions Cup

Munster - we are not there yet but huge strides have definitely been made - would be confident that we get the home QF and fairly confident of winning it - after taht who knows If he defence continues in this vein then anything is possible (conceded only 1 try in our three away games in Europe) - c...

Re: European Rugby Champions Cup

Can't see Munster finishing anywhere other than third in the seedings. So it will be another away semi if we win the QF, That would be Munster's 11th semi final, only two of which were in Ireland. And one of our two home semis was at 'home' to Leinster in Lansdowne Road. 2004, 2006 and 2009 ...

Re: Munster 2016-2017

The fans pay the bills and provide the atmosphere which is vital to the spectacle
I like a raucous crowd and if that includes booing that's fine by me.
Pros should be able to handle it.
tbh I find the shushing before kicks a bit tiresome

Re: Munster 2016-2017

I found the above very hard to understand. In case anyone is interested here is my simplified take on it: The Quarter finals are as follows: A: 1 vs 8 4 vs 5 B: 2 vs 7 3 vs 6 The winners of the two quarter-finals in each section above play each other in a semi final. The venue of a semi final is de...

From the official site KNOCKOUT STAGE 2.4 The clubs ranked 1 to 4 will have home advantage for the quarter-finals as follows: Club 1 v Club 8 (QF1) Club 4 v Club 5 (QF2) Club 3 v Club 6 (QF3) Club 2 v Club 7 (QF4) NB The format for the semi-final matches in the Champions Cup recognises performances ...

There's more than a whiff of elitism in the air here.
GAA and soccer people are every bit as good as 'rugby people'.

Re: Munster 2016-2017

With a much smaller population and hence pick than Leinster, surely the unfairness lies in the fact that we are required to limit ourselves to the same number of foreign imports as Leinster?
Not only are Leinster allowed the same number but they continue to treat Connacht as a feeder club.

Re: Munster v Leinster St Stephen's Day 5.30 Sky/TG4

This game is traditionally played at this time of the season between two depleted teams. Munster effectively cheated by picking a first choice team because they were so desperate for any sort of a win over Leinster, who having so many more internationals than them to rest, they knew would be weaker...

Re: Munster 2016-2017

You would definitely hear complaints if there was a list of non Irish qualified and imported project players at Leinster that compared to: Bleyendaal, Sammy Arnold, Chisholm, De Toit, Kleyn, Saili, Te Aihe Toma, Stander Ignoring the long list of former Ulster or Leinster lads such as Copeland, Conw...
