Re: 2nd Row going forward

While very encouraged by Baird’s development, particularly his apparent ability to make an impact in the tight exchanges (something I didn’t expect at this stage), I think we are in danger of anointing him too soon. That’s not to say that he shouldn’t get a cap in the Nations Cup or possibly versus ...

Re: Benetton v. Leinster, Sat 10 Oct, 1715hrs

https://www.sportsfile.com/winshare/w540/Library/SF1181/1937917.jpg I absolutely love that training top - wish that had been this season's home jersey I could upset a few sensitive souls by musing that with this jersey we are beginning to see the introduction of elements of the St Michael’s primary...

JR listed at 116kg in fridays gameday programme fwiw.
That’s a 10kg advance on previous listing which was probably Outdated from his first or second year as a Pro.

His profile page on Leinster Rugby lists his weight as 115.91kg to be precise!

I would expect him to tweet if he wasn’t working with Sunday Times. MIA 1 week. Hold fire.

Ryan looks to have filled out this year and is man-handling fellow second rows with ease. I think it won’t be long before he is the same Size as George Kruis or AWJ.

Re: Leinster V NG Dragons RDS Fri 2nd Oct 20:15

Hearing Rhys to start and a Keenan - Larmour positional swap. Keenan played really well and I thought that was a better setup. Larmour has a bit of a chicken and egg thing at fullback. He may develop there with experience but he needs development at fullback. This could be an indicator that Faz is ...

Re: Leinster V NG Dragons RDS Fri 2nd Oct 20:15

The "money" quote from Stuart Lancaster in today's the42: “Leinster have got to be Leinster. We’re not going to go out and sign five or six overseas players. In the modern climate anyway, with the way that finances are being dictated this next 12, 24 months, the Leinster model is the one that I wou...

Re: Pro 14 2020-2021 season

I might be in the minority here, but I think this is ridiculous. The idea that you make a 19,000km round trip [Durban to Dublin, return] to fulfil a regular season fixture is absolutely crazy. It is mind-boggling. On an environmental basis alone it is irresponsible. To my eyes, this is a Celtic Tig...

Re: Leinster V NG Dragons RDS Fri 2nd Oct 20:15

Wouldn't mind an overseas signing or 2. Seems that everyone else is find with it when one of the other provinces sign them, but not us. I think it showed against sarries that we are a couple of internationals calibre players short of a champions cup winning side. Imo.. +1 at LH, SR, SH & possibly W...

Re: Leinster’s Captaincy Options

I was talking to someone who watched the Saracens QF at Saracens. He was the only Leinster fan there and went with some pals from London. He said the Sarries supporters were NOT happy that he was there, which surprised him. He expected a rugby club atmosphere but experienced something more akin to w...

Re: Leinster’s Captaincy Options

I see Sexton’s own biographer, Peter O’Reilly in the Sunday Times described Johnny’s voice as “too dominant” in the context of Leinster. He joins Drico, Birch and Murray Kinsella in pointing to the need to dial his influence down.

Meanwhile Johnny Watterson called for some NIQ signings.

Captaincy for Leinster - Ruddock for this coming season.
Captaincy for Ireland - Ryan.
Leavy just needs this season to get back to his best.
+1

But will they dare take either Captaincy from Johnny? He wouldn’t make it easy for them. Unlike how Drico reluctantly accepted Paulie’s anointment.

Re: Leinster’s Captaincy Options

Pot, kettle, black. There’s a pair of us at it here. You got here coz you are blinded by a personal agenda and now trying to hide behind stats. I didn't have anything to do with Drico’s narrative on Johnny’s position in the team on OTB. Listen back. And when you’re finished go to The 42 Rugby Weekly...

Re: Leinster’s Captaincy Options

Well, well, well. BOD on OTB saying Johnny “didn’t have one of his best games” on Saturday whereas Ross Byrne did “nothing wrong”. He was talking in the context of the passing of the torch to the “new bloods” and asked would we see both Ross and Harry Byrne being “integrated“ to the team more now fo...

Very revealing OTT. A nasty and wildly conflating post driven by a deep-rooted personal dislike. I won’t call you a gobshite, or anything else. You are unbelievably wrong on all bar two points. My age and one of my (main) school associations. While delighted at their success, I am not a total advoca...
