Re: Munster Away 26/12 19:35 Eir Sport 1
Very good point re Moloney. I could see Josh Murphy getting a bench spot for similar reasons. With the Six Nations coming up certain players will definitely start but we have options elsewhere. Sent from my 5029Y_EEA using Tapatalk Ryan (4th yr) partnered Molony (6th yr Captain) at SCT in 2012/13 s...

Thanks for these depth charts RTB.
C Kelleher is a proven rugby player and 11, whereas A Sexton is neither yet imo.

Excellent performance by Bill Johnston. p.s. Can I take it, that any further discussion about the shortcomings of the Ulster Academy is now moot?..... Bill Johnston the main difference for me and by a distance. A mature performance. Jack Boyle, U19, held his own against Tom O'Toole. I didn't expect...

Re: A whiff of Cordite
It's the Irish times. Honestly it's rugby coverage is the least of its worries. They've maintained an obsequious cheerleading of the government all the way to the highest rate of infection in the world, decided that illegal government leaks are just fine. There are lots of fine young journalists in...

Re: Heineken Cup 2020/21
New strain is mostly bullsh!t imho. Viruses, in general, become much more active or infectious as temperatures drop, hence the well known flu season. COVID is no different. It's no coincidence that case numbers are higher. Throw in the carry on over Christmas and we are now where we are. Lets blame...

Re: Leinster v Ulster Fri 8th January 2021 19:35 EirSport
The Ulster Academy was highly productive up to the point Gary Longwell left. Hendo, Gilroy, Spence, Marshall etc were the last crop from that era. Since then it's just not been managed well. You have to look at Clarke, Willie Anderson and maybe Campbell to see why. Willie Anderson should never be l...

To backrower8: I think you've made your point most cogently - not just now but also in the past. The danger you are pointing out is real, IMO. I'm sorry, if you feel people on here are dismissing your warnings à la Cassandra. I certainly don't. Thank you. I am aware that how I make my points, and t...

Re: Scrumhalf going forward
It looks like Nick McCarthy (26 in March) is marginally better off in Munster than Leinster as #3 to Murray (32 in April). It is unlikey that anyone else is going to be bought in over his head. He would comfortably be #3 in Leinster in my view. Has a better pass than the two leading protagonists, wh...

Re: Sexton's last season? Outhalf going forward..
Sexton finishing the match on Friday was both a function of him surviving physically (he gave himself every chance as he didn’t carry to the line) and a statement. Once he was ok physically I would say Leocaster knew that he wanted to finish the 80 and make a statement to all and sundry. Smart move....

Re: Stuart Lancaster joining Leinster
They were a few easy lines for Frano. Lancaster’s set up here is superior to anything Sale could offer. He is on similar money, more BL job security, doing the job he does best and with a clear pathway back to international level #2 coach (more money & still better security than Sale). Not sure if a...

I've said it before, I'd like to see Gilsenan get an opportunity with Leinster. From what I've seen of him, he's different in most respects than the guys that Leinster have been bringing into the Academy in recent years. +1 He was in our mini-rugby group where he was always a baller and I was hugel...

Re: Leinster v Ulster Fri 8th January 2021 19:35 EirSport
I have been asking a few friends who are Ulster rugby fans as to why they aren't producing academy players like Leinster (traditionally Leinster and Ulster always have had comparable player numbers). Their answers mainly point to how most don't play after school (like Leinster). What I found differe...
