Re: Andy Farell's Reign of Terror

Objectively it was a systems error. POM is a lot of things but he's not as bad as I would like him to be. He's designated as Irelands player to recover the ball in that quadrant but he needs a pod around him to make that happen. Its a system failure and not a POM one. Plus, as alluded to above, the ...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

I understand what you mean, they pay his contract etc etc, hes injured, shouldnt be near the pitch etc etc. But the facts are, we were done in because we played absolute sh!t for 40 mins and our scrum coundnt handle Saracens - arguably the worlds best tight head would have gone a long way to fixing ...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

Latest scuttlebutt is we wanted Tadgh on for 40-50min, manage his back injury for the Saracens game but this was scuppered by IRFU who would not allow him play injured, pulled rank on his central contract. Ntt sure if anyone else is hearing this? Thats two Heinken cups Nuce has done us out of in two...

Re: Bernard Laporte and France

If we cast our minds back to the RWC 2023 competition and draw, we've got a good idea how Laporte and World Rugby works. In our naievety, we thought we had a 1 in 3 chance, Croke park for a final, pairing up with other Celtic nations, rugby was on a real high in Ireland at the time. But the simple f...

Bernard Laporte and France

https://www.rte.ie/sport/rugby/2020/0922/1166757-laporte-questioned-over-influence-peddling-probe/ Bernard getting his come-uppence? Perhaps, in fairness to the French they tend to stand up to corruption in sports (IOC, FIFA) even tho they breed some of the worst. (Platini, Tour de France) Pretty da...

Re: Glass is Full!

Super post and yes it is essential to remember how lucky we are to follow Leinster, they have given us so much and will continue to do so. I think the media can largely be ignored, half of them just are pi**ed the real province in Ireland down south wit de passion has won Jack all in since 2011 so ...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

Everyone seems to be drilling down on the scrum, and yes thats true, but for the few brave souls who have watched it back, was it not a total pig of a game from Leinster? You play that game ten times and honesty nine of those times Leinster are going to win. Saracens are not world beaters by any mea...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

I think we are underplaying George’s scrummaging power. He’s a beast and has been central to flaying Irish scrums a few times - the series of scrums where he had Porter on toast in Twickenham last year spring to mind. What’s really annoying (for me) about this is that We could / should have won des...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

This is deadly this new thing that Saracens didn’t use Billy Vunipola. They did, he carried nearly as much ball as the rest of their pack put together. He had 12 carries and made 13 meters. We played him out of the game. He was the man of the match 16 months ago in Newcastle. Be annoyed, be angry b...

Re: Rob and Ferg

Two legends. Rob is Irelands most successful rugby player and Ferg is a leinster legend - like having another back row threat on the wing. Both were exceptional kickers too which we rarely got to see. Who knows, maybe one more year?

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

Pick holes in everything but we got so badly mauled in the scrum it's pretty irrelevant. Testament to the lads to keep it that close with no scrum. When a team has a scrum as dominant as Saracens' yesterday they will nearly always win. Shades of Ireland v England in 2008 about it. I can't remember ...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

Any time "good as the All Blacks" is mentioned in an Irish rugby context you can be sure a shitshow is coming down the tracks. A bit too soon for any clear analysis but Saracens couldn't believe their luck. 22-3 after an extraordinary first 40. A team that clicks will have nothing to worry about aga...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

Match Preview This is the game! This is the game Leinster have been waiting for ever since they lost last year's final to Saracens. The game they knew they'd more than likely have to win in order to win back the trophy. What they couldn't have imagined then was how drastically Saracens circumstance...

Re: A whiff of Cordite

Ah good to know about the tax rebate. I had it in the back of my mind it had been rescinded or maybe altered. Is it a 10 year spell in total as a pro rugby player in Ireland allows you to claim back tax accrued on contracts/paycheques over the 10 years? I also seem to remember it was similar to the ...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

Cronin and Connors to start is the rumour - but just random texts from lads, nothing concrete. If Cronin starts, its a huge call but im genuinely delighted for him and it puts money where our mouth is in term of the "Next Man Up" mentality. Lineouts have been poor under Kelleher, even though he's an...

Re: Munster Rugby - Semi Conscious, the Series Finale??? - 2020/21

Has Zeebs been more successful at Racing than at Munster? 2 Euro semi finals, 2 Pro 14 Semi finals for Munster, and Racing 1 Euro final in Bilbao, quarter final next year, and 2nd and 4th in Top 14. Kind of call it scratch but there seems to be a lot more gnashing of teeth in Limerick than in the P...
