Re: Leinster Squad 20-21

Hold on, are you saying that 71 times capped, triple Heineken Cup winner (all as a starter) Eoin Reddan wasn't a 'Good European standard' Mildly? Or am I mis-reading that?! . Reddan wasn’t Leinster produced. Even if he was he had the good fortune of being in a team of great European players. Was he...

Re: Leinster Squad 20-21

odd to say that Patterson has looked upto the grade and others haven't.. when exactly did this occur? Gilsenan was excellent for Michaels in 6th year, as was Kenny for Zaga. So to say there has been no standout 9's in schools rugby in a decade, well I wouldn't agree. Kenny struggled with injury out...

Re: Leinster Squad 20-21

It's the opposite in France. The scrumhalf is the more important player and France haven't had much success developing good outhalves over the last 20 years. It's a bit strange we didn't see Patterson at all last season. I quite liked the look of him. He seemed to be modelling himself a bit on JGP....

Re: 2nd Row going forward

Joe McCarthy looks like a potential heavyweight lock, 6'6 110kg+ at 19. https://www.sportsfile.com/winshare/w540/Library/SF1179/1932208.jpg Certainly one to watch if not fast track. What I remember from him at Ireland U20 was that he was exactly that - robust and dominant in the collision. I look f...

Re: Leinster V NG Dragons RDS Fri 2nd Oct 20:15

Great performance by JGP and Keenan outstanding at Fullback. Team still looking very rusty vs before lockdown, but that’s cause they set the bar so high. Good to see Rhys back. Looks like we will need the full 58 with the amount of injuries tonight. Hilarious that possibly we have lost Johnny (hamm...

Re: Pro 14 2020-2021 season

Anything to be said for the organisers expanding further and getting 2 Argie sides set up and based in Spain to join? That would really make my day if that were to happen. It would certainly add the boon of travelling to Spain twice a year in the depths of winter!

That image wasn’t showing up for me, so in case anyone is in the same boat.... 15. Hugo Keenan (18) 14. Jordan Larmour (50) 13. Garry Ringrose (76) 12. Ciarán Frawley (26) 11. James Lowe (47) 10. Johnny Sexton (167) CAPTAIN 9. Jamison Gibson-Park (93) 1. Ed Byrne (57) 2. Rónan Kelleher (15) 3. Mich...

Re: Leinster V NG Dragons RDS Fri 2nd Oct 20:15

Keenan is our best option at fullback presently. He’s the only one who showed some assured ness under the high ball this mini season. Where he stands positionslly in terms of coming into the defensive line to make tackles remains to be seen but I think he’s better there than Larmour also. We might l...

Re: Pro 14 2020-2021 season

I think we can be certain that the English clubs wouldn’t want to compete on a level playing field. There was talk recently of removing the salary cap completely for English clubs and getting in wealthy owners. They resolve their problems over there with more money. We don’t. There are very real ide...

Re: Pro 14 2020-2021 season

Wouldn't bother me if we missed an Interpro - getting bored endlessly beating Munster at this stage.............would rather a trip to Sandy Park !! :D :D Well you may like it but I think the average Leinster supporter would much rather a game in the Durban summer sunshine against the Sharks. Parti...

Re: Pro 14 2020-2021 season

Relegation would be a non-starter for a B&I format. Imagine a province got relegated and thus didn't get to play interpros the following season. The English teams wouldn't be long getting annoyed at continually losing to Leinster and Munster if that came to pass. Look at what Munster did away t...

Re: Leinster’s Captaincy Options

Doris is certainly a leader to keep an eye on. Leads by example on the pitch, is always in the thick of it, speaks well and is respected by management and teammates. I would put him firmly in the future captains bracket.

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

On back row, I am now inclined to agree with those that argue Conan doesn’t have it at the top level. I think - under these rules - that poaching needs to be almost top of the criteria list but it’s also fairly clear that we don’t play to compete currently, prioritising numbers in the line. Connors...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

Billy Vunipola 13metres off 12 carries. Well done to Porridge who did his job superbly today. Was the only line break they had the try? He was largely anonymous today. 7 tackles in 60 minutes. He was anonymous for long periods in his sole responsibility. VDF came on for 20 mins and made 6 also nota...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

Well acid test now for Connors.....Big Billy is a handful. At least VDF there to freshen up the Billy tackling when Connors gets knackered. We have them in the backs but forwards is a massive test - if we can get parity or better up front we should be fine. Baird galloping around in the last 20 sho...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

Selection of Cronin would enhance ball carrying and threat of our attacking maul. It would deminish our defensive line and our scrum. There's not a large body of evidence that our line-out would be enhanced but Cronin has learned about the importance of throwing in a hard school. The grwatest suppo...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins

Cronin and Connors to start is the rumour - but just random texts from lads, nothing concrete. If Cronin starts, its a huge call but im genuinely delighted for him and it puts money where our mouth is in term of the "Next Man Up" mentality. Lineouts have been poor under Kelleher, even tho...

He won’t go. He’s a true blue and would be mad to uproot given the youth of the Leinster back line. Plenty of opportunities for him here.

Even with Dev there? Why do you think that was? P.s. debates are lot easier without unnecessary laughing emojis. Ah, so you're a fan of emojis now eh LRIP? That's a change eh? Doesn't the lineout improvement illuustrate the point that clearly having Dev to throw to makes it far easier ...
