Re: RDS redevelopment

The one thing that has been putting me off getting a season ticket is that the only ones available each year appear to be on the uncovered stands. If they cover them I'll definitely be buying at least 2. Snap!! It really does cap out ambition. The big advantage of the North and South stands is that...

I think Kelly played on the wing for Ireland. I'd forgotten about Barry Murphy, did he play on a US tour? Sanell would have been the same.

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

As recently as January, there was an interview with GT in the IT about his dream to play for Ireland, with quotes "From the very start, that was the dream". The reality is, he's clearly a mercenary who would play international rugby for anyone who will pick him, be it France, Ireland or E...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

Munster have been dealt with a huge blow as Antoine Frisch declares his intention to play for France. “I have been in contact with Fabien Galthié for a long time and this contact has never been interrupted. From the moment I was called into the France group, it became very clear to me. I want to pla...

Re: Leinster vs Bulls, March 29th, 7.35pm

According to this https://www.epcrugby.com/champions-cup/matches/276357/match-stats the tackle success in the the win over La Rochelle was 81%. You look at the stats for that game and it's hard to figure out how we won it. I was at the game and it's the wettest rugby match i've ever been to, I was ...

Ah good shout. tigerburnie still around? it's starting at garden of remembrance, just off O'Connell street 2-3pm saturday. I think it's the "Ireland is full" mob....if you mention they are like the National Front or British First, they should get the gist. they had the same stuff in engla...

Re: Leinster vs Bulls, March 29th, 7.35pm

I disagree with you purely because JN was asked this exact question at the start of the season and his response was you could have 100% tackle success and let in 4 tries which would make that stat redundant. All he cares about in defensive stats is the score line and we at present are keeping teams...

Re: Leinster v Leicester - Sat 6 April, 20.00 RTE2

Osborne and Frawley are great players. As is Turner. But, for a Heineken Cup knockout match, I'd be a little concerned about any partnership without any of Henshaw, Ringrose and Ngatai. The fact Henshaw wasn't running yesterday doesn't necessarily mean he's out though. It's an 8-day turnaround from...

Re: Leinster vs Bulls, March 29th, 7.35pm

Just looking at the stats, I felt at the time that we missed a few tackles (including a crucial one that lead to a try and yellow card by Jack Conan). Tackle success rate vs the Bulls was 86% which is the same as our URC seasonal average in which we are ranked 13th in the league. That's not good en...

Re: Leinster vs Bulls, March 29th, 7.35pm

Strong team and a pretty good bench. Don't love Larmour at 15 though. Think Jordan is taking one for the team here. He's had a very good run for us on the wing and is playing 15 because there's nobody else. That gives Russell another chance to impress in his position. Credit for that. Otherwise Big...

I know a consultant surgeon who just recently retired from the NHS in Belfast. His opinion is that all the difficulties stem from funding and the lack thereof not from management NHS spending per capita in the UK has gone up over 40% since 2013, which is way above population growth and their health...

No there was a discussion on one of the other threads on communications. We are later this year than we were last year. Not sure why that it but likely due to working out where we are playing next year.

Re: Ulster 2023/24

Funny I'd take the person who's had to keep the service running through a prolonged crisis over the one who had it easy. He's retired, so he's probably doing Ulster a favour and may not want the job long term. I think the point is that if you are looking to run a high performance organisation you s...

Ulster/the IRFU have moved to fill the CEO role quickly, albeit in what appears to be a clear interim (and only interim) appointment: https://www.irishrugby.ie/2024/03/27/ulster-rugby-announce-hugh-mccaughey-as-interim-ceo/ I think when Leinster interviewed for their CEO they had change in mind and...

Re: Ulster 2023/24

I wonder how much of the coach and management getting the hump is D Humph. After Jackson, I'd say Nucifora would have let a lot slide for a quiet life. If you consider that the Nucifora/Humphreys role is to manage the provinces to feed the Irish national team Ulster is the province that needs most ...

Re: Croke Park to host major Leinster rugby games

For one game? Jeez- my heart bleeds. Ridiculous stereotypical in its Dublin-centric entitlement… I think people need to understand that most fans are fairly casual, they enjoy watching rugby and for many it's an excuse to catch up with friends or hang out with the kids. Many will only go to one or ...
