Re: Connacht 2023/24

He'll get more passes if he stays where he is Connacht's top scorer this season, developed through the province's u19s and academy. I hope this isn't true. He probably figures he'll get more game time at Munster (which he would) rather than staying with Connacht and competing with Hansen, Porch, Co...

Re: 6 Nations 2024

I'd have Connors and Hodnett over Prendergast every day and twice on match days. Which goes to show your moniker is spot on!! Well done, that's the first time that line has ever been used in the nearly 17 years I've been on this site. Prendergast, once again, last night gave an exhibition in dynami...

Re: 6 Nations 2024

Very surprised Cian not included. He was only Connacht player who stood out v Lyon last weekend. Only missed W.C squad on final cut and been one of the in form backrowers in Country this year! Choice between Timoney/Hodnett/Prendergast was probably a close one. Hard to say any of the three are clea...

Re: 6 Nations 2024

Larmour has scored 5 tries in 9 games. Scoring isn't everything but it's worth pointing out that he's hot at the right time. We had 7 back 3 players in the 6N squad last 2 years and 6 before (thanks Hugo) Keenan and Lowe are locked in so there's 4-5 players to pick. Stockdale, Larmour, Nash, Balouc...

For the Lions?! What has he done to warrant that?
He'd want to sort out our lineout first!

Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.

Munster have looked at bringing Tom Daly down from Galway before, and now might be tempted to go for Hawkshaw. Only Harry Byrne of the Leinster quintet of 10's would be even a remote option for them.

If you have to go down the depth chart that fast you should also go wider.
Ralston would be an upgrade on at least 2 of that 4, but our Southern friends would self-combust!

Re: 6 Nations 2024

Rightly so, in my opinion. The Six Nations is a massive tournament, the main objective is to win it. The job of an international coach is win today, win tomorrow. There's two other tranches of test matches this season in summer and autumn where the coach can experiment with tactics and scratch a se...

Re: 6 Nations 2024

Don't be surprised if you don't see a whole heap of experimentation this 6N's. Instead I expect Andy F will give press briefings on the importance of trying to win the tournament. Same as it was 4 years ago. Rightly so, in my opinion. The Six Nations is a massive tournament, the main objective is t...

Re: Connacht 2023/24

I wouldn't be TOH's biggest fan, but apart from not playing the whistle for Kok's try I thought he did well today. This was a fine Connacht performance with JJ, Ralston, and Dowling putting in huge shifts. Scrum and lineout were decent and Heffernan, Hurley-Langton, Blade, and Hawkshaw offered contr...

Re: Rumour Mill

imagine Archer retires, Ryan stays on and Knox leaves? I think that's the most likely scenario - you'd hope Ryan has enough gas left in the tank to go again. I don't really get the logic behind cutting Knox loose at this stage having barely given him any opportunities (10 starts/33 games in 5 seaso...

Of the positions where there is no CC though. Hooker is one of them. Outhalf and wing the others. We have had 13 CCs for 6 or more years now. Not sure there is a hard and fast rule keeping it there. I think they make it up as they go along. Would imagine Hansen as a wing for wing replacement for Ea...

Re: Leinster vs Sharks, 28/10, 16:55, @The RDS

If you blame the coach for everything and ignore any and all context as to why our scrum may be underpowered it is. Saying 'the leinster scrum hasn't functioned well for five years' is tool. Harry Byrne doesn't 'need a big game' because some lad on a fan's forum can't remember how good he has been ...

Re: RWC 2023: Ireland

I suspect Doak will make it to international rugby. Not sure if he will hit the highest levels. Yeah. He's a good player with a but. But he's young and has had responsibility heaped on him in a way that hasn't happened with Casey who's been much more protected and given easy minutes. Doak has playe...
