Re: Connacht 2023/24

by Galicia celt Connacht upskilling coaches like mossy lawler who then returns to his home province and poaches one of their best attackers will make them second guess hiring Irish coaches outside the province. Farrell is a known fan of kilgallen so maybe wanted him to move too. Bad day for Connach...

Re: Connacht 2023/24

by Ruckedtobits Are those guys getting AIL game time? If they are and at such young ages, they will benefit from any playing time, especially if Senior Coaches are talking to their Clubs They are getting gametime for their AIL Clubs who play in the lower leagues cause most of them are Connacht base...

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

by ronk He's 30 and Connacht don't pay well. If he has an offer in Munster but not in Connacht, especially if it's a 2 year deal, then it's an easy move. Munster like centres, especially experienced 16st+ ones who didn't learn the game in Munster. Daly wore 22 mostly last year, he was outhalf cover...

Runours that Munster are talking to Tom Daly. I'm sure everyone here is shocked that Munster are trying to sign a center.

Re: Connacht 2023/24

Interesting statistics. Sometimes I forget how young most of the players are. Still though Connacht should be making arrangements for these guys to get more gametime.

Re: Connacht 2023/24

Some good comments about Connacht's lack of gametime for it's younger players on boards Zeugnis Feb 5, 2024 Very much enjoyed the U20 game against France. As mentioned above Hugh Gavin was very impressive. Looking at last year's line up, I noted that 11-13 are all now in our Academy: (11) James Nich...

Good point. Of the three who are up I'd hang on to O'Sullivan always thought he was good when I saw him.

Re: Munster 2023/2024 - Return of the Jedi????

by Sugary tae The likes of JOD and Coombes and ahern will typically get games when internationals are away. You can only drop in so many young lads. JOD should be moved on soon as he is only URC level. Yes he is an elder statesman but the difference between him and Coombes and Ahern is fairly big.

Re: 6 Nations 2024

Looking at the overall 6 nations and the criticism of Casey I was looking at the other 9's in the tournament and most seem to be bang-average at best at the moment. England had to bring back Danny Care who is not exactly a spring chicken. It looked like the welsh 9 was purposely throwing the ball at...

Frawley doesn’t have the pace or engine of Frawley, but he has more than enough football to do a job there.
Talk about praising and insulting.

Re: A New Era 2023/24 season and beyond: Back Three

I think Ireland and Leinster should be focusing on Fullback. We've been extremely lucky with Keenan been so durable but we need a quality back-up. We have guys who can play there well but there is still a significant drop off from Hugo to the next player down.

Re: Rumour Mill

by naraic I would be surprised if Lasisi was promoted to a senior deal at the end of this season. As he is year 3 academy you would have to expect that means he is to be released. I'd imagine a development contract next. Furlong is going to be minded and I can't see us throwing away a serviceable T...

Every one on teams seems convinced that Lasissi is on the way out this season. Idle rumour or is there a grain of truth to it?

Re: Autumn Internationals 2024

by FtD Portugal lost to Belgium at the weekend in the opening round of 2024 Rugby Europe Championship, in what was supposed to be a fairly dire game that finished 10-6. I can't see Ireland using a match window to play Portugal right now - the mismatch is still too great. They're at the level of our...

Re: Autumn Internationals 2024

Would really like us to play a tier 2 team again. Think the IRFU should think about the box a little, for example who wouldn't love a trip to Portugal and play them there? Make some cash, grow the game and play someone knew.

Re: 6N: Ireland Italy - Dublin 3pm Sun 11 Feb 2024

We don't need a 6/2 split for Italy. I'd bring Ringrose in at 23 if he was fit so he gets a run-out.

Re: Irish U20s 2024

by Jcahill1 sunshiner1 How did Spicer play? No one seems to be mentioning him. He didn't play badly, but just doesn't utilise his size like you'd want him to. He tends to slowly jog about rather than smashing into people IMO. If he got up to a sprint he'd take some stopping. Thanks for that. My wor...
