Matt Williams - new Ulster coach

Matt Williams set to land Ulster job Saturday, 22 December 2007 13:23 It is reported that Matt Williams will be confirmed as the new Ulster Director of Rugby on Monday. The former Scotland and Leinster coach held talks with Ulster Branch and IRFU officials at a Belfast hotel this week. It is thought...

I was wondering what the Poll was going to be. He is just being honest about life in leinster - the fact that the wives don't socialise is hardly a sackable offence, and the rest is pretty known anyway. You've got to love his desire to stay here next season; "if (Leinster) still want me here ne...

gotta agree with claire there, did anyone here refer to the guinness stand as such in the old landsdowne road? They did in fairness, but it wasn't considered a bit deal because rugby fans who just couldn't get tickets for LR were, apparently, unlikely to know the stand was renamed the Guinness Stan...

White line fever too. This has been a serious problem for Leinster over the past 18 months. Sometimes you wonder what happens at training with Leinster. It's almost like they keep training on the areas they are good at, and neglect those many bankrupt parts of their play. Is that why the same mistak...

Yeah, I only realised that after the "investigation" into Thomand Park. Hence Shannon on the agenda, and Wille on the panel

I know your pain! Longest bus journey of my life was when I tried to explain the rules of rugby to my sister. Try explaining to a girl the rules of a cricket in a Rome pub the day Ireland stood on the verge of beating Pakistan. Wasn't me, but the guy in front. No better way to distract yourself fro...

Munster Rugby on "Questions & Answers"

Anyone see this? It's on in the background here in work. Basically they are questioning the renaming of Thomand Park. It has sparked a big debate, as you can imagine, with one woman claiming the "passion and soul" will be lost if they choose to rename the old place. Another lady even compa...

The SCT introduces kids to a winning mentality and "cup rugby" in front of large crowds. I don't think it does. I think the JCT and SCT introduces kids to a fear of losing mentaity - because it is cup rugby. Recent JCT match involving Mount Temple (I think) they slaughtered their opponent...

I'm sure even Guy himself was surprised to be starting the match. Reckon he did alright under the circumstances he was thrown into. Guy Easterby knew he would be starting. No way he came back to be used as a tackle bag over Christmas when he could be gently heading towards his pension. I thought he...

I don't read that tripe, but by any chance, did what he say about Leinster make sense, it's just most people here can't look facts in the face? he's a munsterfans poster who somehow gets a regular column printed in the tribune If you were offered a regular column in the Sunday Times, would you stop ...

After the pathetic capitulation in Cardiff on the last day of last season I never thought I'd be as ashamed of a Leinster team again. I think you're right. The semi final defeat to Munster was made to look a lot worse because of who it was against, but when you examine it closer, they were far more...

Firing the coach is the easy "solution". There is clearly a problem with the back line, and some very senior players need to take responsibility. I do think that Cheika should now experiment a little with the backline formation. The BOD/Darce combination is clearly not firing this season....

Should we field a second string team for the two remaining pool matches and focus purely on winning some silverware in the Magners? I've bought a season ticket to see Leinster this season. Not a scratch Academy XV with Christian Warner and Michael Beirne. We've too much pride to go down like that a...

Absolute rubbish! Too often we've been saying that this season. Cheika's contract is up in May and I can't see him staying. I know the Branch want to keep hold of him, but I think e'll walk. There's no way he'd stall this long on a contract. It's time to write this season off and build for next year...

I was talking with a member of the Leinster Branch very recently and this person said that there are people within the Branch who are not at all impressed with Chris Keane as a scrum half. That's why he hasn't been given any sort of a chance. And he won't either. Contrary to what some people here th...

That cheetah song was one of the most hillariously ridiculous things i've ever heard. Unbelievably tacky in a way only a southern hemisphere nation could manage. Never said it was any good but it is a real stadium anthem, and you only have to look at how the locals responded to it. This song sounds...

Ha ha quality :D

I'd love to know how many songs he ripped off writing that!

Anybody watching the Currie Cup would have heard the "Cheetah Cheetah" song when ever they scored. That's a stadium anthem..... not "The Munster Boys are back in town"

I'm not saying I give a sh!t if anyone knows who we are in the SH. The fact we keep doubling our season ticket sales every year shows Leinster Rugby is doing a pretty good job atrracting range of fans. Just said I find it rather strange that despite excessive rugby on tv these days and a demand for ...

It's amazing how we all think the Heineken Cup is MASSIVE and is the envy of club sides around the world (despite how entertaining the S14 can be) yet here we have 2 props recently signed by Leinster and neither have heard of us. The win over Toulouse was spectacular, and I'm sure many thought it wa...
