Apologies I highlighted specific parts specifically to try avoid the school shite but I guess the poster had somehow warped their school opinions into other random points

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
Maybe Guy Easterby should pull out his contact book and give Niki Adeolukin a call. With Adam Byrne & DK having exited stage left, we could do with some short-term cover for the wing. The applicants should be competent in the air and capable of taking sharp chances. NA has these abilities. Hams...

Re: Wing going forward
I think you might be missing the point of message boards. None of us a professional coach but we all like to talk rugby. I tend to agree with some of the comments above. When i played, 7's was handy for building fitness and ball handling skills but it's become a separate entity with it's own skills...

Re: Leinster Academy 20-21
They are training with sub academy and not the 19's. afaik Which is what they said... Not quite. I believe Barry Gray might be in that group too, not sure if there any other 19s are.. Martin's not which I guess is surprising. It really is exactly what they said. You could acknowledge that other pos...

Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.
Former Terenure club and school and Leinster underage prop Craig Trenier has signed for Harlequins after a few seasons in the championship. Good move for him especially considering the current climate.

Re: Leinster v Salarysins
It can work only for a limited number of teams. So it could work for knockout rounds, if the teams agree on a venue. For the Champions Cup, they only just reconfirmed the venues - all separate. Even if they change tack and agree that all eight teams go to one jurisdiction, and you want that venue t...

Re: Leinster v Salarysins
The final stages of the Champions League and Europa League (from the quarter-finals onwards) will be played in one country next month. CL in Portugal, EL in Germany. That, to me, seems like the logical solution for the champions cup. It doesn't solve the problem of the Pro14 for Irish teams though....

And why wouldn't it work for cross border tournaments?curates_egg wrote: ↑July 22nd, 2020, 8:52 am That would be fine if it concerned teams from one national jurisdiction. I just don't see how it is practicable or realistic for cross-border tournaments.

Re: Leinster v Salarysins
A simple solution would be to get all the teams self isolating in one place like the NBA are doing, maybe not in the one hotel but in the one country would do it . No shortage of hotel capacity about anyway, just pick somewhere with 2/3 stadiums close enough together to just be a bus ride away from ...

Re: Wing going forward
It's probably more telling to look at the results of sevens in terms of value provided to 15s. The more professional it's gotten the further it has moved to it's own very specific athletic demands and less focus on 15s skills and requirements. 7s isn't a way to deliberately up-skill a player for 15...

Re: Wing going forward
right so I can't express my opinion about what I'd like to see smith do next season because i'm not his coach, great. Your own opinion was a dismissal of someone suggesting that 7s might be a good option. All I'm doing is telling you that you're not in a position to say if 7s would be a good ...

Re: Wing going forward
No offence but you really are not in a position to state something like that. You have absolutely no idea what players key work ons are, where they are in their development or anything along those lines and I highly doubt you're a top level coach that knows how best to work on those things. If Smith...

Re: Wing going forward
I think it's grossly unfair to use the school someone went to as the basis to judge them by whether they're likely to push on or not. I don't get the dismissal of 7s either, 7s can seriously improve certain aspects of a players game, more than 15s can at times even. There are also some seriously tal...

Re: Does the leinster backline lack passers/distributors outside 10?
The whole second "distributor" thing has become a bit of a line people throw out without really knowing what it means, or if they do why teams might employ one. The reality is though 95% of the time a "second distributor" essentially just means running the play off someone other ...

Re: Does the leinster backline lack passers/distributors outside 10?
The whole desperation from some corners to squeeze a "second distributor" into back lines is a bit odd. And I think what makes a distributor is way off at times too. A distributor just needs to have a good pass and decision making and the system does the rest for them really, there's no re...

Re: Scrumhalf going forward
He was fabulous! Personally, I always rated him higher than Colin Patterson. He captained High School to their one and only win in the Senior Cup, beating Ollie Campbell's Belvo 19-7 in 1973, thereby preventing the latter from winning the thing three years in a row. Himself and the late Ian Burns (...

Re: Leinster greatest coach??
If the IRFU rated Leo higher/same than Joe then he would be the Irish coach right now. Toulon and Saracens peaked after Schmidt left. He had an easier time in terms of a settled squad. Schmidt also gets a free pass for not getting out of our group because of the Challenge Cup. He was still super. B...
