Re: Ireland v. England
Not only will lineout suffer but so will our scrum, big time, with Dev absent. We have no specialist THL without Toner and the English pack could murder both our lineout and scrum, and possibly our maul. The team that has been picked will have to play like Connacht and try to get the ball wide and ...

Re: Ireland v. England
Don't get the selection of 4-8. I reckon we need something different in the backrow but we haven't changed it and have actually made the entire second row more like the guys we have behind them. The lineout has struggled yet we don't bring in POM and drop Toner too. Look I get that it's under perfo...

Re: Ireland v. England
Good that Murray isn't being risked if he is a doubt - this is only a good thing for Marmion Shocked at Toner - don't think anyone predicted that Backrow a little bit lucky Good that we get to see Payne at 15 with first choice in a match of this magnitude Delighted for Conway (and happy he didn't go...

Re: Ireland v. England
Leinster fans can answer this better - is Ringrose currently not at the standard to be used as a distributor, or is it just a Schmidt ploy?. The loop is definitely overused because we don't have a playmaker at 12,13 or 15. Zebo is the only one in the team at the moment that has that appears to have ...

Re: Ireland v. England
Interesting how many people are putting the blame on entirely different elements - Best, lineout generally, unbalanced back row, no playmaker/dodgy defence at centre, no pace & poor defending in Back 3, poor selection, poor substitutions, bad luck Problem to my mind is that there is probably a s...

Re: Ireland v. England
Looking at the way England destroyed Scotland with set-piece moves through the middle I can see Payne being brought in at 13 as our defensive lynch-pin with maybe Ringrose moved to the bench. Seems to be the way its going alright. Think Murray Kinsella is suggesting Payne for Ringrose (with the lat...

Re: Joe Schmidt 2017
He was by a mile the stand out player v France.
He hasn't been as good as he was v New Zealand in Chicago - likewise Sexton hasn't been as good as he was in the 2011 Heineken Cup final, Dan Carter hasn't been able to reproduce his 2005 Lions first test performance, etc etc

Re: Ireland v. England
Not sure about any claims re lack of basic abilities - the squad have worked with Schmidt for 3.5 years and have of them have worked with him for a couple of years before that. Basic ability wasn't a problem a couple of years ago and isn't really a problem when they play for their provinces. Its a ...

Re: Ireland v. England
Not sure if Iosing to England is ever a massive but If he does believe that bowe and mcfadden are in the top 7 wingers atm then you have to question the judgement. I'm not buying the whole experience of systems- sure for the 23 but 5th choice winger for one game??? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Re: Stade and Racing Metro to merge
as pointed out theyve both won leagues last couple of years, would be like Sarries and Quinns merging, dont see the point other than megalomania and profiteering on behalf of owners, puts a lot of quality players on the transfer market too, also half the staff in general at both clubs to lose their...

Re: Ireland v. England
Heaslip puts in one poor performance and suddenly he has to be dropped. He's been excellent for months, how quickly this has been forgotten. I understand that people don't like him much, but seriously. It's worth pointing out that Stander, one run when given plenty of space aside, didn't exactly li...

Re: Ireland v. England
My backrow would be... 6. POM 7. Leavy 8. Stander 20. Conan Not a hope of it happening and I won't complain if it doesn't but I want to see at least one change anyway. I'll be disappointed if Leavy isn't involved in some capacity. I think with the options we have we need to rotate and experiment a ...

Re: Ireland v. England
Touched a nerve obviously! Heaslip is a guy that can't be criticized here and is over criticized elsewhere I think Heaslip had up and down performances for a couple of years, more up obviously but there were poor performances in there He reacted particularly well when Stander came into the team as ...

Re: Ireland XV Nov.2017 looking to RWC
Do we need some big changes? Something like this perhaps: 1.Healy 2.Scannell 3.Furlong 4.Toner 5.Henderson 6.POM 8.Stander 7.Leavy 9.Murray 10.Sexton 12.Henshaw 13.Ringrose 14.Earls (only just turning 32 for RWC) 11.Gilroy 15.Zebo (assuming he recovers his pace) 16.S.Cronin 17.J.McGrath 18.J.Ryan 1...

Stop playing innocent, you're about as transparent as glass. Touched a nerve obviously! Heaslip is a guy that can't be criticize...

Re: Ireland v. England
Don't know whether you realise it or not but Leinster use Heaslip quite a bit for lineouts - very successfully I might add. Stander was tried against Wales and failed - it's easy to throw stones if that's what you're looking to do. You need your no. 8 to be able to deliver lineout ball. Give it up ...

Re: Ireland v. England
Nobody is going to be launched into the team from outside the squad, nor should they - selecting Sweetnam or Byrne for example would be unfair on them. We have the summer and very importantly the autumn to do that (and it needs to be done). That said there needs to be some changes in personnel and ...
