North is also contracted to Scarlets until 2014 so they'd probably want some compensation for releasing him.

A shame to see any Leinster player leaving. I'm guessing the signing of Bent plus Ross' new 2-year deal convinced him his future lay elsewhere. Will be interesting to see how he gets on over there.
