Re: Liverpool Thread

I would take a point against Arsenal now if offered it. I get what you're saying, and I'd probably take a point now, too, if offered. However, I cannot understand why Arsenal have been tipped by so many pundits to win the league. They have some super players and play lovely football, but will conti...

Re: Liverpool Thread

I thought we got away with that one last night. Bournemouth showed a lot of character. Their 'goal' looked perfectly legit to me and ours was clearly offside. Still, from a Liverpool point of view, I thought we played several times better than last week's showing. There's still a lot of room for imp...

Re: NFL

The curse of the pre-season has kicked in again. Washington TE Niles Paul won't play again this season and he joins Pittsburgh kicker Sean Suisham as early pre-season casualties. My guess is that they won't be the last.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli, 25, will reject the chance to join Lazio and Sampdoria on loan as he is due a six-figure loyalty bonus if he is still at Anfield when the transfer window closes. Quoted from the BBC Is there nothing we can do to be free of this guy? Proof, if any were needed, that...

http://static.nfl.com/static/content/public/photo/2015/07/28/0ap3000000504265.pdf Commissioner Goodell has upheld the 4-game ban imposed on Tom Brady. I have to say I;m surprised he didn't bow to pressure and reduce the sentence - pleasantly surprised, as I think there's enough evidence - circumsta...

Musical porn comes to Ireland .... Megadeth, touring with Lamb of God and Children of Bodom - with Sylosis as the undercard, coming to the 3Arena on 9 Nov. I'm not sure about Sylosis, but the other three bands will all be touring new albums. http://www.metalireland.com/common/images/reviews/megadeth...

Raheem Sterling: Man City & Liverpool agree £49m deal

Another one bites the dust. £49 mill. Seems like a decent price, especially given the circumstances. If he does well in Manchester, all his nonsense will soon be forgotten

Re: Liverpool Thread

Schweinsteiger to Man Utd confirmed. I saw a transfer figure of 5.2 mill stg bandied about. If that figure is close to accurate, that;s an absolute steal. Which goes to show what little power the club holds when a player wants to leave. Which brings me on to this season's want-away; Raheem. There's ...

Interesting. Certainly not a particularly sexy signing. Where did you hear this btw? The move has been mooted for quite a while, but the trailed seemed to have been cooling of late.

Very interesting article on the beeb today http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/american-football/33167457 . If they're thinking of doing away with helmets, the shoulder pads etc will need to go as well, or at least get a complete overhaul in their size and construction. I've often wondered if there were no h...

Re: Changes to Rugby Laws

I'm not against the 6+1 idea but there might be a problem in that it could lead to a lot of draws. As frustrating as it is and as much as it needs to be stamped out, I actually love cynical play sometimes. Really it can just be great defending. I'd love if it was possible for it to become a legitim...

Re: Changes to Rugby Laws

Then wheres the penalty for foul play? The penalty has to be significant enough to make discipline worthwhile. If you made the penalty less significant, then you'd have less good play and well worked tries as the defence would have less reason to interfere illicitly. That is an absolutely valid arg...

Re: Changes to Rugby Laws

How about widening the difference between a penalty and a try? It strikes me as a little silly that a couple of duff infringements on halfway can result in the concession of more points than an unconverted, well-worked try in the corner. If they want to keep it at 5 + 2 for a try, maybe drop a penal...

The Sticky Fingers reissue is all kinds of awesome. I've said it before, but has any band ever come out with four consecutive studio albums of the quality of the Stones - Beggars Banquet, Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers & Exile on Main St? Led Zepplin are the only one I can think of I guess it dep...
