Re: Ireland's Next Captain

I figured that had to do with team selection for the 3 tests. Like I think POM might get benched next week. Who do you think will captain the team if POM isn't playing? Bearing in mind the issues with the breakdown with Pocock, I don't think it can be a back - it will need to be a forward. Which on...

Re: Ireland's Next Captain

Pointedly, a tour captain wasn't announced after Best was injured. I figured that had to do with team selection for the 3 tests. Like I think POM might get benched next week. Who do you think will captain the team if POM isn't playing? Bearing in mind the issues with the breakdown with Pocock, I do...

Re: Ireland's Next Captain

His record as Captain isn't really great is it? He's gone missing in a few big games for Munster and he got subbed at half time for the lions and then didn't make another appearance. I don't agree. Plenty of people think Munster have over achieved. Murray is probably the only one who would make the...

Re: Ireland's Next Captain

I think it will be POM and that Joe has consistently shown that he wants POM in his team. I don’t think that he has? Only since he came in for Heaslip at the last minute just over a year ago. During which time we’ve had injuries to players he clearly rates highly like SOB and VDF. Since then Leavy ...

Janeymac - This is the "Munster 2017 -2018" thread not the "Leinster are worser" thread. Ye're grasping at straws to generate a mickey measuring contest - (always a bad thing to grasp at during a micky measuring contest!) Not much point saying Munster's commercial performance is...

Isn't DOB covering Sexton's wedge?
AFAIK, it's a sponsorship deal with Independent.
No, it was some ambassadorial role for filling stations which DOB has since flogged.

The Smurfit Business School is not a paragon of not hiring duffers.
I don't think you 'hire' chairmen of the board!

You haven't a clue what the financial model is (for example, do you know that Munster have a Patron's Scheme whereby wealthy individuals guarantee to provide up to 30K a year for 3 years?, or that it organises a dinner in London every year where some of the proceeds of last year's dinner are paying...

Re: Munster 2017 -2018

The Saxons refused to play on it because the pitch was frozen, they couldn't even fly into Dublin from London because the weather was so bad and they ended up being diverted to Belfast. One former denizen of this board managed to get his tongue stuck to a barrier on the terrace that evening. Of cou...

Re: Munster 2017 -2018

It was a cr@p pitch that was put in in 2005 & 2006. It was a dustbowl for AIL final a few years ago (Belvo v Cork Con I think). I also recall a Ireland A v Saxons game being called off because the Saxons refused to play on it. All is well now - a new 3G pitch was installed for the start of the ...

Re: Munster 2017 -2018

RDS and Lansdowne Road make barrels of cash out of Leinster. They owe us gratitude. Ulster did fine in Ravenhill. Staying in the RDS makes business sense. Building corporate boxes based on 4 matches a year and then letting clubs sell corporate packages to compete against/undercut you is not a winni...
