Re: URC 22/23
What nobody wants is some element of compulsion or arm twisting. Right now the only thing stopping zebre or dragons from getting a young and promising player to move is money (and preference). So if the Urc wanted to come up with some sort of fund or rebate system that would ultimately give zebre mo...

Re: URC 22/23
It's generally said that if the 2 Italian teams were doing better, then it would benefit Italian rugby on the whole. But the assumption behind that is that the Italian teams are largely full of Italian players.

Re: Grahamunster - Graham Rowntree's Munster 2022/2023
Lurking for a long while. Good point and question,as a Munster supporter I fully back the current management team. At the start of rowntree era my one hope was that I would get to see progression from munster into a style of play that was consistent and reward based and also that I would get to enj...

"none" of them "come through unscathed" - so, you don't want Ireland to win the RWC, I take it? [emoji38] Feck, never twigged my double negative. You know me, I want our brave and faithful friends to be ready, willing and able come September RWC :happy clapper: I'm reliev...

Re: future of heineken cup
That said, they do tend to come up with some odd ideas. A few years ago, I remember we played Saracens in Wembley for a pool game...which we won, but, they had a really odd half-time-show with tinnie tempah! It was utterly surreal. So you're telling my we missed an opportunity to have Brush Sheils ...

Re: future of heineken cup
love having the challenge final in the same city on a friday....marseille last year when lyon beat toulon or in bilbao when cardiff pickpocketed gloucester in the last minute 31-30 are games of rugby that will live long in the memory but friday left me wondering if it should be in different cities ...

Re: future of heineken cup
I'm guessing that the French are very reluctant to return to 9 weekends of European competition. Even then, why not 8 pools of 3 home and away, top two qualify, round of 16, QF, SF, F = 8 matches (and only 4 "must play"matches)? Sent from my SM-F926B using Tapatalk Maybe they think 4 out ...

Re: future of heineken cup
So instead of 2 groups of 12 where you don't play everybody but at least it was home and away, it's now 4 groups of 6 where you don't play everybody and it's not even home and away. How exactly is this addressing the issues people have with the current system?

Re: Grahamunster - Graham Rowntree's Munster 2022/2023
Agreed, it is great to see a full stadium for such a new competition (new to them) we are a lot further down the development path in Ireland, and I really don’t think we could even dream of having a crowd like that for a URC final unless it was a derby, even less likely it would sell in 3 hours. I ...

Re: Weekend ECC tickets
Can I just have a mini rant about how sh!t it is that is the same ticket for both days, an that we can't transfer a ticket (when you've bought multiple). Its not like we didn't pay enough for the tickets.

Re: Leinster v Munster URC Semi Final Aviva Stadium Sat 13th 5.30pm
At the end of the day, would it be possible to find anywhere in the world a sports fan who thinks a referee for a big game who actually played for one of the teams a fair and reasonable proposal? We talk about the Urc maturing into a respected top league, but referee appointments like that will only...

Re: United Rugby Championship
What do people prefer, the URC and Champions Cup final a week apart like this year, or a few weeks apart like last year? I know some of the great teams back in the day were able to win both league and Champions Cup one week apart, and in one sense I would like us to do the same, set the bar as high ...

Re: Leinster v Munster URC Semi Final Aviva Stadium Sat 13th 5.30pm
Injuries are basically random, but the risks can be controlled through good management. I can't point out that one injury was caused by an external factor like overplaying. I can however point out when there's a pattern of overplaying and injuries are correlated. It's not even proof of causation, i...

Re: A whiff of Cordite
I’m surprised that what did for Franno was an inaccurate article rather than some nasty comment or other. I’d have thought a genuine mistake was forgivable and god knows he produces enough of the other. Meanwhile, Roisín Ingle sails serenely on… What he did was the same thing as before. He made a p...

Re: Seasons ticket holders using their codes for friends
I'm trying to explain to you why everyone is disagreeing with you. Your first post referred to johnny come latelys, the next post event goers, etc. These are pejorative terms for nameless faceless people to you that you believe are somehow less deserving of a place at the final than you are. Well th...

Re: Seasons ticket holders using their codes for friends
All I am saying is that LR should have put the point into their email. Not that big a deal. Except that's not all you said. If it was, I'm sure most people would have shrugged and said fair enough, and if such a point was in Leinster's email, I don't think too many would be on here giving out about...

I also would hate to see the Welsh and Scottish leave. However, just playing devil's advocate, the south Africans, while solving the standard of opposition issues have also brought new problems around the travel and carbon footprint etc. If we had less teams we could look at a different format where...

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
I'm not saying investing in London Irish has zero potential benefits. The OP idea was for the new team to play in the URC. My question is, if the IRFU found x million behind the sofa why would they chose to invest in a foreign entity vs setting up a 5th province at home. The only thing of note that ...

Re: Aviva Premiership: something exciting happens
What's the point of the irfu investing money in a urc franchise based in another country vs a 5th province based in Ireland? Is it attracting young English born players into a feeder system for team ireland? Is it to give Irish expats games to watch? I just don't see the point. It the premiership w...
