Re: RWC 2027 : Ireland

The notion that playing Jeremy Loughman or indeed Jack Boyle at 17 against Wales would be 'throwing our primary tournament to give cheap upskilling caps to underqualified players' is also farcical though. There's a happy medium between playing your best team all the time and building depth for the ...

Re: Leinster Academy 23-24

Richie Murphy is only at Ulster until end of season as it stands right? Would be a big move for Jack to go there given he's not sure if his Dad will be there. Irrespective of that, choosing an academy based on your Dad being head coach doesn't sound like a great move. Question is do Leinster want an...

Re: Cardiff Away, March 2nd

Don't see Culhane in training photos yesterday which is a shame.

I guess we'll have to make do with just the four experienced top quality backrows to choose from then while our other four experienced top quality backrows stay with Ireland.

Such is life!

Re: Cardiff Away, March 2nd

Probably looking at a very similar team to last time out in that case.

Is Culhane back fit yet?

We could do with getting Larmour back from Ireland camp and he should be released given how little he has played.

Can't see them releasing Ringer or anyone else.

Re: 6N Ireland Wales - Dublin 2:15pm Sat 24 Feb

I'm not talking about his quality as a winger. He's an exceptional winger. I'm talking about one single quality - his speed. Not his composure, not his strength, not his skill under the high ball or indeed - anything else. The Wales player kicks the ball at 61.40 and Lowe is running back Ith a colo...

Re: 6N Ireland Wales - Dublin 2:15pm Sat 24 Feb

I agree with 433 on this. One example that comes to mind was around the 61st minute of the match. Lowe was fairly ponderous getting back, which put us under pressure. https://youtu.be/HUHGqRWEMHI?si=7yPNX-i1mhssxFwl What a weird example. Lowe did excellently in that instance. Gathered under pressur...

Running. Most games you don’t get to notice how slow he is in open space. Any specific example? I agree with 433 on this. One example that comes to mind was around the 61st minute of the match. Re: 6N Ireland Wales - Dublin 2:15pm Sat 24 Feb

If we beat England with a TBP then we've won the championship I think.

Having said that, not going on to get a Slam now would weirdly feel like an underperformance.

Will need to be better than today though and England are still dangerous.

fourthirtythree wrote: February 24th, 2024, 4:51 pm Gatland had a smart plan against us as usual. No long kicking duels to take Lowe’s anti-Frank gun out of the equation. Instead he got to showcase his very weakest asset: he is very slow for international wing.
When did he showcase that?

Playing it at end of game after a win (like in RWC) is the exact right time to play it.

They've stopped playing it after tries thank f%~k.

Re: 6N Ireland Wales - Dublin 2:15pm Sat 24 Feb

Jack 'not a 6 Nations standard kicker' with 5 from 5 kicks.

Thought he was a bit too loose in open play today and tried to force it a bit. He and JGP looked threatening when running but don't think we used our forward dominance enough.

Nah that wasn't it, ref correctly pinged McCarthy for coming over a ruck and tackling someone out the back of it.

Re: Saracens vs Leinster, 23rd of Feb

I would consider that anoraks tbh. Like there's no real upside for them. Money better spent marketing tickets for actual games really. That's a lot of anoraks. There's definitely an upside to allowing Leinster fans watch Leinster play. You can both market actual games and set up a rudimentary strea...
