Re: European Champions Cup [Most Improved]
Racing 92 wouldn’t be the firstTop 14 high flyer to come to grief at The Kingspan as Clermont and La Rochelle will testify. There is a School of thought that Ulster could meet Saracens in a quarter final at the Allianz Staduim which could be interesting as most Ulster supporters feel that they have ...

Re: Ireland 2018/2019
Any player who can step in and fill the boots of St.Ruane cannot be overlooked.Cooney has the ability to manage a game from scrumhalf. He is also a very consistent place kicker and was the top points scorer in the League last year. On a number of occasions he has had to slot into the No.10 position ...

Re: Connacht 2018-19
None of the Provinces relish playing Connacht especially at the Show Ground as they are always expected to win but the players and coaches all know that this is a potential banana skin. If they win the fans attitude is sure it was only Connacht you beat and if they lose then they never should have b...

Re: Ulster 2018-2019
When you consider injuries before they set off for S. Africa ,the need to put out an A team, the late withdrawal of Gilroy and Addison, the loss of Herbst and Reidy to injury, together with playing at altitude after a 5 day turnaround then the 3pts is a good result. My only wish is that they could cu...

Re: Ulster 2018-2019
Hopefully by the time that Speight returns to the Brumbies, Stockdale, Lyttle,Busby and Kernoghan will all be available to step into his shoes. As I said before our Academey is beginning to produce a few likely lads such as Otoole and Moore among others who are capable of stepping up to do a job and...

Re: Ulster 2018-2019
Nordi Murphy & Rob Herring are up for selection this week against Edinburgh. The Backrow selection is going to be interesting this season with Cotzee, Murphy, Timoney, Reidy, Deysel and Henry in the melting pot with the two Young Rea's also pushing for a start. I know it is popular to right off ...

Re: Munster 2017 -2018
I'm glad to see D4 policy on foreign players blocking development of young local players has changed.
Or did I misunderstand the reason why RP went to Montpellier.
Surely this was a good opportunity to develop some of Munster's existing Scrum Halfs and give them experience.

It appears that Jonno has previous record with regard to contracts.

Re: Ulster 2018-2019
So much for the comments on this site lauding Gibbes as a great bloke. He was released from his contract because his mother was allegedly Terminally Ill and taking a job at Waikato to be close at hand. I know that theoretically La Rochelle is closer to NZ but by the time he travels to Paris to get h...

Re: Ulster 2017 - 2018
It seems Gibbes has good family reasons to return to NZ. I think he may have gone earlier but for the departure of Kiss. Since Kiss has gone he seems to have got the team moving in the right direction and the off the pitch distractions have begun to fade away. Personally I am sorry to see him go as ...

If Ulster should happen to get their 5 league pts target this evening it would leave them on 65 pts to Leinsters probable 70 pts. I wonder how BOD will classify this out come ?
Have they fulfilled the potential of the Leinster Academy with this number of points ?

Re: Ulster 2017 - 2018
No social media in my day but I am sure that some of comments in our face to face discussion with our mates were probably slanderous / libelous but then there was nothing in writing to rear up at a later time and embarrass us. It is a saluatry lesson in the dangers of social media and the lack of pr...

Re: Ulster 2017 - 2018
Doc you would be doing everyone a better service by not commenting on a case still at the trial stage and especially not making a tainted comment which implies innocence or guilt. The players who attended the trial in many cases have friendships formed through rugby at school following through into ...

Re: Ulster vs Leinster: Saturday 28th, 18.30 (BBC & Sky)
McCloskey did indeed take over the kicking duties in one match but this was on the return of Nelson after an ankle injury that had kept him out of the game for more than 12 months and was so bad that at an early stages it was suspected that his career was over. McCloskey was only kicking to prevent ...

Re: Ulster 2017 - 2018
Not many sides relish a visit to Kingspan on an European night, the Key match will be next Sunday away to Rochelle where they need to be back some form of points. I don't see too much threat coming from either Aviva side.

Re: Ulster 2017 - 2018
The BT commentary made Jim Neely look like a Nuetral. They even managed to transfer the final to Portugal at one stage of the commentary.
