Cricket 2010

Post by claire_m »

Cricket season starts today :D

If the weather on Sunday is as nice as it is today, I'll be off to the Oval with a nice hamper of goodies. Got to love the summer :D

Doesn't start for my club for a couple of weeks. Captaining for the first time ever this season. If anybody has any outlandish field placements that work a treat please let me know!

There's nothing quite like hitting Lord's for a Test match with an obscenely large box of food from Carluccio's. Can't wait to do it again in a few months.

Somerset are only playing 1 match outside of Taunton this year as usual and I'll be fecked if I'm going to see Gloucestershire so there won't be much doing for me. Perhaps some 20/20 and the odd day or so in Taunton.

Twenty20 world cup starts this Friday for Ireland v West Indies 9pm Ireland Time.
Should be good fun with Connacht and Toulon as the warm up.

What channel is it on? Sky Sports I assume?

Correct. Preceded at 17.30 by Sri Lanka V New Zealand. I take it these are the first games of the tournament?

Ireland taking wickets regularly........could be a major upset in the offing here. Some of the Windies shot selection has been very poor.

I realise that I'm beginning to sound like something of a broken record on this topic, but yet another match where Ireland's batting line-up wasn't able to match our top class bowling attack. If Joyce and Morgan had been playing last night, I have little doubt but that we would have taken the Windies right to the wire. Further evidence that the status of Irish cricket needs to be addressed without delay.

120-8... Morgan getting most of the runs for England, ironically!

Duckworth Lewis is a farce for T20.

Brilliant day had at the cricket yesterday. I really thought Ireland were going to pull off an upset after about ten overs. Joyce and Morgan shoring up the middle order would have been handy...

Yeah the place was rockin' for those first ten overs, Ireland fairly laid into the Aussies, shame we gave away a a few cheap wickets. Crackin day for it though.
