Chances of munster moving final if playing leinster

Post by scrum25 »

I wonder would munster go for a financial killing if they were to play leinster in a magners final and move it to croke park or lansdowne - how are magners final receipts distributed?

Even without the extra money i would say they would love to exorcise some demons from 2009

For our part it would be great to beat them there again

I would imagine that it would go to Lansdowne as it would probably be a sell out. If I was Munster I wouldn't move it!

Won't, and shouldn't face any pressure to either.

We're into a play-off format and I think it's improved the league hugely, the excitement looking at various result over the last few weekends being a case in point. However, coming first in the table has to count for something and Munster should be rewarded for their outstanding consistency.

There's also the point about the local economy. A ML final in Limerick, especially against Leinster, will be worth millions in terms of pubs, clubds, restaurants, hotels etc. etc.

Personally I'd love a final in Thomond. Yeah it'd be tough but how sweet would it be to win a trophy there!

They have to win their semi first!

IF we win the HC and IF we are playing Munster in TP in the ML final, does anyone know where I could get cardboard cut-outs of the Heineken Cup? (Big IF's there I know)

As others have said, if Munster win through to the final, they have earned the right to have it in Thomond Park and should host it there.

I'd hope Celtic Rugby will have learned from last year and let the home team host the final as oppossed to last year's nonsense.

a thousand times yes. The final last year was focking embarrassing (no wonder nobody goes to ospreys home games). I would rather endure the fields and stand up and fight played over the PA for the entire game in toyota park than go through last years final again (result included ;) ).

It's definitely been mentioned by pundits that it's IRFU's call at the end of the day, but in fairness to Munster they should have it wherever they want, presumably in Thomond.

Personaly, I'd prefer it to be in Thomond, make a weekend out of it and in all honesty, I think we'd beat them no matter where we play them if we make the final (I'm not sure we'd win a semi if we have a Heineken Cup final the next week), and it would be pretty sweet to lift the trophy in Thomond!!

If we win the league this year it will get rid of that sickening feeling I've had all season of throwing it away last year.

What happened at last year's final?

If I recall correctly the PA from ospresys took over the mic and made me (and many others!) cringe from start to finish! He never shut the F up the whole time! That and we lost :(

I think they should move it to Cork. Isn't that where the real Munster rugby fans are from? And it's the main city in the region.

God he was awful. I actually missed our PA guy and he was fairly useless. The not being allowed hand out Leinster flags whilst Magners handed out Black and Gold merchandise (Ospreys colours for crying out loud) was particularly galling. Also our mascot wasn't allowed to gee up the crowd ffs

As I said earlier, hopefully, Celtic Rugby have learned from last year.

Nope, it was a neutral guy brought in by Celtic Rugby as was the "entertainment". The Ospreys and the muppet who used to do our PA were given a couple of minutes each before the game but that was it.
