Players Fitness for Quarter Final
Kidney today has yet again selected exactly the same team (apart from enforced changes) as the last three matches. The players after four weeks of playing International rugby in a row are going to be absolutely wrecked. How long is it going to take for the players to recover physically and perhaps more importantly how long will it take to get them out of the mindset of playing sh*te kidney style rugby and back into the leinster style. The week after the 6 nations is over, we play osperys at home, the following week we play Munster away and then its the quarter final.
Persumbally joe will rest all the internationals for the osperys game, so that only gives them one game to get back up to speed

It's a concern alright. Damn Kidney & his conservatism.
An injury to Ross or Sexton will surely scupper our chances of silverware this season.
Not that Judas would mind, mind you.

It's pretty much the identical situation we've faced over the last four seasons. We've never had access to the internationals (at least not those who've featured in all the 6N games) for the game directly after the 6N. It's a little different this season because they'll be playing four internationals in a row, but don't think it'll make a massive difference.bluemagic wrote:Kidney today has yet again selected exactly the same team (apart from enforced changes) as the last three matches. The difference is all the players will have played 4 weeks in a row, with no rest, drastically increasing recovery time and the likelihood of injurycormac wrote:It's pretty much the identical situation we've faced over the last four seasons. I bet if you asked any of the 8 starters or 2 replacements from Leinster playing for Ireland this weekend which level, 6N V Pro12 they would prefer to play - I think there would be only one answer, and it aint v the Hairsprays.

2 weeks between England and Munster games, plenty of time to recover. Players wont be rusty that's for sure. If anyone needs the extra rest am sure they'll get it ie not play v Munster.
Plus likes of McFadden, DK, Ruddock will raring to go after weeks of semi use, Reddan benched first 3 games, we might have BOD back.
If they hate playing Deccie rugby then they'll be delighted to be back in Leinster, plus Joe will be giving them a different gameplan.

All of the internationals will be rested against the O’s, then (injury permitting) they’ll all be back in action the following week against a POC and Murray-less Munster. These lads are pro’s, fatigue won’t be an issue.
Can I raise a practical question at this point? Are we gonna do "Stonehenge" tomorrow?
Re: Players Fitness for Quarter Final
Rusty no. But they'll need de-Deccie-fication.simonokeeffe wrote:2 weeks between England and Munster games, plenty of time to recover. Players wont be rusty that's for sure. If anyone needs the extra rest am sure they'll get it ie not play v Munster.

Re: Players Fitness for Quarter Final
Every other year they'd have played 3 games in four weeks, and this year they got a 20 day break between the Wales and Italy games. There'll be some knocks but as long as there are no serious injuries they'll be fine after a week off and back for the Munster game.bluemagic wrote:The difference is all the players will have played 4 weeks in a row, with no rest, drastically increasing recovery time and the likelihood of injurycormac wrote:It's pretty much the identical situation we've faced over the last four seasons. It's annoying deccie trys nothing though, but you've also got players withheld in the squad who get little or no game time with Ireland or Leinster.
Now that Brad is here, let's hope BOD and Cullen are both back by Munster, and Browne's injury holds up, and we're in good shape coming in to the business end of the season. Wont bother going into the shaggy scenario, as the writing is on the wall there.

I would expect that Seanie's bacteria eating flesh will deal with this nuisance without difficulty.simonokeeffe wrote:and now we have to hope that whatever flesh eating bacteria that felled Sean O'Brien will have cleared off too

Would be too sure of that. They are not actual background videos filmed while the interview is being conducted. They tend to be recycled repeatedly without a small 'file pictures' in the corner.totalrandomer wrote:Saw him training in one of the LTV videos. Re: Players Fitness for Quarter Final
I still reckon he will be OK. Might not be risked if his fitness is not up to it. But he was supposed to be out for 8 weeks from the 21st of January.mfjoc wrote:Would be too sure of that. There yago.IT in Jan wrote:IT Reports - Cullen to undergo Achilles operations
Rugby: Leo Cullen will be out of action for between six and eight weeks after it was decided by Irish management that he would undergo an operation today on both his Achilles tendons.
The Leinster secondrow was hopeful of managing the injury through the rest of the season, but today’s decision will see him out of action until at least the second week of March.
That would still leave Ireland’s Six Nations encounters at home to Scotland (March 10th) and the away trip to Twickenham on St Patrick’s Day.
An eight-week absence would rule him out of the full Six Nations, with Leinster’s Heineken Cup quarter-final clash at home to Cardiff Blues the next target for the province’s captain.
