Cheerleaders
Hello all,
Would anyone else be in favour of Cheerleaders for our Rabo and/or H Cup matches. I've been watchin Super 15 a fair bit recently and while our weather ( RDS on Stephen's Day comes to mind) dosen't exactly lend itself to it but It'd be an nice addition and something to look at pre match and half time.
Anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

Re: Cheerleaders
Maybe at half time we could have a bunch of clowns and a tightrope act too.
I go to the RDS to watch rugby.

Re: Cheerleaders
kids play mini rugby at half time in the RDS look at that, not a bunch of bimbo's in bikini's.

Re: Cheerleaders
Prefer not having them.
Waste of time, money and more people dont want them than are interested. Keep it more family friendly.

Not good for the image of women. Not good for the image of Rugby in general. Not good for the image of Leinster Rugby in general. Not good for family friendlyness.....etc.etc.Scott wrote:kids play mini rugby at half time in the RDS look at that, not a bunch of bimbo's in bikini's.
Remind me. What are they good for?
Much as I love scantily clad women I don't see why they should be..... Draped over cars, Bikes, Red topped newspapers, Rugby fields etc. It's all about context.

A complete waste of time and money. Spend the cash on facilities for the academy instead.

Re: Cheerleaders
Now now, maybe the OP means male cheerleaders, after all, I'm sure its not just ogling women he was after.
Bad idea either way.

Anyone haunted by the memory of the Guinness/Heineken dancers they used to roll out in Donnybrook about 11/12 years ago will automatically say no to this proposal.

Re: Cheerleaders
Surely if you are into ogling men (and it's your own business if you are) there would be ample opportunity at a match without bringing in and demeaning people solely for that purpose?
Anyway, sorry mate, but the RDS is a family experience. I go with my da and my niece and one of the nephews. My elder daughter is looking forward to joining us soon. I don't really want them exposed to the notion that women are dolly birds / eye candy while men do the real work. I'm not offended by cheerleaders but I don't really want them either.

Wouldn't cost a penny I'd imagine. Just get a sponsor on board and they'd take care of all expenses.tackle-bag wrote:A complete waste of time and money. Spend the cash on facilities for the academy instead.
I don't have strong feelings either way on it but i am a bit surprised at how badly it is going down here!

Re: Cheerleaders
I seem to recall it was discussed here before with a similar response. Look at the amount of kids who come to the games, loads of them are girls. Do you really think scantily-clad cheerleaders are appropriate? Seriously, sexist, dated nonsense.

Maybe we could hire a few of drag acts to appear as the "Leinster Ladyboys" at halftime just for Franno.

Would replace the Naked Cowboy as a new low point for half-time entertainment
