Can you name a few? I'm genuinely curious to know. If you asked me to name an "elite" school prior to reading your post, Blackrock probably would have been the first I'd have thought of such is my level of ignorance on these matters. :)

So how about those stadium naming rights then? I read a piece in the IT which suggested it may be parked until the end of the season. Think it's a great idea though money for nothing and we'll still call it the RDS because it's just a stadium in the RDS and I don't see the RDS ever changing their name.

Perhaps that just means that Blackrock is a well known school. And no I'm not naming anything or anyone.

BlueBlue wrote: The sad thing about some people in Ireland is, If you speak in any way well, live in an area that is nice / clean you are a west brit. That’s just sad. For me this means the only definition of being Irish is someone who lives is a shabby dirty house and speaks with a heavy accent.
BlueBlue I think your confusing the real meaning of 'West Brits'. Bit of an over generalisation in the above.
Yes I'm generalising about a generalisation !

Out of interest, please give me the true definition of West Brit ? Perhaps you are right but I'm taking the generalisation to its maximum conclusion.
It's a perjorative term (at present) for a South Sider(Dublin) who has aspirations and delusions of being somewhat British. Although they won't readily admit it, they look fondly and lovingly(consciously and subconsciously) across the water at their former colonial masters. They tend to scoff at Irish Culture, (language, and Irish Nationalism in particular) and believe British (mis)rule was by and large the making of this country. They accentuate the positive aspects of British (mis)rule but conveniently forget the atrocities. The Sunday Independent is their bible and lap up the musings and revisionism of Eoghan Harris,Ruth Dudley whatever and Eilis O'hanlon for example.
Another curious and frankly hilarious aspect of this phenomenom in recent decades is the increase in double barrel names. i.e Sweeney -Burke, Roche-Byrne for example. Pretentious and comical in equal measure.

Originally dates back to the land struggle when O'Connell and DP Moran coined the phrase.

We are tenants, so any money is between the society and the liberty right? We get extra bums on seats but only for 2 HEC games each year. Correct me if I'm wrong.

That's all well and good, but smaller doesn't necessarily imply more elite.

Point taken though.

Yes we are tenants, and Liberty looking at the namings rights (through negotiations with us) is a direct result of playing 13/14 games there annually (roughly) which are televised. I am sure Mick Dawson will be reminding thhe RDS Mgmt committee of this.

Potentially with a new improved stand it may infact attract new customers - also, if marketed right (i.e ticket prices reflecting) you may see more bums on the seats for league games.

It should also mean more money going into the facilites at the RDS which can only be of benefit to Leinster, I mean I like the current set up and there's a great match day atmosphere but if they have money to put in more/better jacks, changing rooms, screens, bars etc. etc. it can't hurt us and can't hurt the match day crowd.

Improved facilities do usually lead to increased attendance, look at the Premiership in England and the way stadiums were in the early 90's compared to now.

Should also see an improvemet in the quality and quantity of corporate facilities. Also a chance to sell far more season tickets, many of them in a better location than previously offered.

But none of that 15M is ours right? The RDS gets it all.
And when do they plan building this new stand, after the last game of the season and completed before the horseshow?
BTW does Leinster Rugby recieve any revenue from the bars and vendors on matchday at the RDS?

Not into our coffers directly, but will go into improving stadium facilities, perfect synergy and upward integration.

No idea about bar receipts.

I have to say that renaming landsdowne into the aviva made me sick. Im massively against the corporatisation of the world that is gathering pace daily, Citizens utd in the US, Aviva stadium, and now what, Liberty Mutual park? Lets forget about the fact that the auditors/valuers screwed the Irish people and helped us give away a viable business to a crowd of american vultures, lets just hone in ln the fact that they think we'll identify with their brand because they never shut up about Boston. How patronising -'that'll keep the Micks happy'. Ugh, thinking of those ads, makes me want to vomit. The ads on rte irritate me in a massive way.... 'that's liberty insurance'...I lived over there for years and now home even sounds like the sheer fakeness (for want of a better word) of american business.

I am strongly opposed to having anything to do with the chunts.
