Post by johng »

Odd one this in that U18s are free in, but there are no tickets for them.

What if gickloads of kids turn up?

Will they ALL be let in?

What if their parents have tickets in the stand?

Will they be allowed in there?

Will they have to stand on the terrace on their tobler?

If they ARE allowed into the stand, how many will be let in?

What if people with stand tickets show up and the stand is full of kids already?

Anyone know how any of this works?

In other news.....

I would go with something like this.

US & Lions players still out I reckon. Fitz Darce & Redan to get a half. Get the lads who never got a run last week to step up.
Goodman injured. Luke McGrath may have gotten a knock, himself and Leavy were taken back off on Friday.

I'd be delighted if we'll have D'Arcy, Reddan and Fitz for the Scarlets game. Hopefully they get some decent gametime ahead of that one.

Says here that they will be available. With SOB and Mike McCarthy available the following week.

Probably all the players who were in the US available over rounds 1 and 2 also.

I think the team will be much younger that that. Nobody who played in last years H-Cup will play.

I read somewhere that season ticket holders get preference for the stands if it is over booked. I would think that with 20 mins to ko there will be a Steward at the stand gate holding back the teenagers

Is it just exclusive to kids from Terenure? Digraceful

Results in these games do not matter as you are trying out combinations and looking at guys who might not reappear for a season. But it does sound like the skill level in the first game was high enough for there to be a game worth watching. That is encouraging.

The worry with Northampton is that they may select a close to full strength team which could do damage to some of the young guys. They do not have the restrictions on using their senior players that we have.

I would be interested to see what team they send.

Matt O'Connor in the Irish times link above wrote:On the injury front, O’Connor stated that Fitzgerald (cruciate knee ligament), Eoin Reddan (double leg fracture), Gordon D’Arcy (calf), Mike McCarthy (elbow operation) and Seán O’Brien (hand) are all expected to be available for selection by the Ospreys visit to the RDS on September 14th. Maybe even sooner in the case of Fitzgerald, Reddan and D’Arcy.

“They should be back in the next fortnight, even before Scarlets in round one and hopefully some of them will get a run out against the Saints next week,” he said
Total speculation on my part as to the possible team. But the only HC 1st teamers I have put in besides these 3 are Leo and Jeno.

Neither of them were on any summer tour. Neither of them are likely to be involved in the AIs

I left out

Boss
Madigan
McCarthy
McFadden
McLaughlin
Ross
Strauss
Toner

who were on the US tour, as well as the lions.

I would not be surprised to see a repeat of 2010 game v Wasps where they ran out 41-6 winners playing the likes of Varndell and Betsen

Interesting looking team. Backline the same as last week except for the messiah. Love the look of that backrow...

Oh yeah, sorry SCM for Boyle I think? Always get the two of them mixed up, they look very similar.

Bent got 10 mins at the end of the game last week. Not sure which side. I think Loose though.

Good to see that Luke McGrath and Dan Leavy are ok. They were re- replaced by the starters last week.

Hopeful that Fitz and Darce will get a stint next week.

More players on the bench than starting. He is bringing someone for every possible situation. Good idea.

Is Ferg the first player from the US tour to be named?

Nugget was on the US tour too. He switched from Georgia to US when Best was called up by the Lions.

Shane Jennings skippers a side which shows several changes to the one that faced Ulster last weekend. Ireland Under-20 captain Luke McGrath partners Jimmy Gopperth at half back, with Academy winger Sam Coghlan-Murray named on the left wing.

Prop Jack McGrath and second row Tom Denton are named in the pack, with Jennings forming a back-row partnership with Rhys Ruddock and number eight Jordi Murphy.

There is further good news for the province with the inclusion of Ireland scrum-half Eoin Reddan on to an extended bench after a lengthy injury. Reddan is joined by fellow Limerick man Sean Cronin, winger Dave Kearney and international back Fergus McFadden who scored a hat-trick of tries in his last outing which was for Ireland against Canada.

Over 3,000 tickets have been sold for Friday's friendly against Northampton Saints in Donnybrook. Tickets are still on sale from just €5 ONLINE HERE and from usual outlets nationwide. Tickets will also be on sale on the gates which open at 5.30pm.

Any sign of the Saints yet? This is the 4th preseason game and they played North last week. Reckon we're in for a hiding but I don't care, looking forward to this! :)
