He did indeed.

So Toner's contract is up in 2015, McCarthy's in 2016 and Douglas in 2017?

The IT wrote:Leinster received some good news yesterday when Kane Douglas was excluded from the 32-man Wallaby squad for next month’s Test series against France.

Australia coach Ewen McKenzie also dropped last season’s captain Ben Mowen, who has signed for Montpellier in what appears a clear policy to select players staying in Australia until the 2015 World Cup.

“I’d love to wear the gold jersey and if I get the chance to play this year I’ll do all I can to make the team go as good as it can go,” Douglas had told the Sydney Morning Herald.

“When my contract ends in Ireland, in the back of my head I’m thinking I’d like to come back and wear it again. But it’s not up to me . . . I just have to keep playing good footy and if they choose me they choose me, but if they find reasons not to, then so be it.”

Playing for the Tahs on SS2 at the moment. I've only seen around 20 minutes but he looks good. Carrying a lot and very effective in the lineout.

From what I saw I was a bit disappointed with his physicality apart from one big hit on his opposite number. He was involved in plenty of rucks but never really hit them with venom. Was too upright at times and was counterrucked by smaller men. Potgeiter was certainly the one taking on more ball and being more dynamic but that is probably to be expected being a converted back row.

He went well in the lineout and managed to pinch a few too. Plus scrum went well for the 'tahs.

Overall I thought he lacked a little bit of intensity and bite but did his basics well. More Dev than McCarthy.

His beard should be considered a separate entity. The beard should get a shirt of its own.

Delighted that Kane is on board, a much underrated player. Looking forward to seeing him crunch the opposition with some of his trademark tackles!!

Some interesting quotes from Kane Douglas in the Aussie press this week about his move to Leinster....
But it was the 2012 and 2013 Spring Tours that made a European sojourn more of a dream.

"One of my mates Sean Doyle has been playing over in Ireland for the last two years and since I've been on the Spring Tours I liked the look of things," Douglas said.

"He's been living in Belfast playing for Ulster so I went and visited him. "I was originally thinking I'd see if Sean's team needs a lock but they already got someone to fill that role. I just got my manager to have a look around and see what's out there."

Douglas will join Irish powerhouse Leinster for the 2014-15 season, which will see the lock play in both the Pro12 and European Cups.
Douglas is already feeling a little pressure of his impending arrival.

"Leo was a second-rower, has been the captain and I'll have to fill his boots," Douglas said. "That's going to be a tall ask.

By Douglas's own quotes it looks like he kind of fell into our laps when Ulster had no jobs available... I'm a bit less hopeful of us making any significant centre signings now....

Or pay and conditions are good here and he knew Sean Doyle and the Ulster set up a bit so there was slightly preferable.

Or he doesn't want to connect his move to his club coach.
