Post by goreyguy »

Richardt Strauss - hamstring(couple of months)
Dave Kearney - knee(couple of months)
Jordi Murphy- shoulder(12 weeks)
Dan Leavy - shoulder(8 weeks)
Luke Fitzgerald - groin(4 weeks)
John Cooney - shoulder(4 weeks)
Noel Reid - knee(?)

Who else is injured currently? Dundon? Tracy? Beirne? Cronin? Reddan? Darcy?

Cooney's injury is fairly irrelevant to Leinster this season.
Look out Itchy, he's Irish

I assume the 1st 2 as they have not featured in the Friendlies. Cronin had shoulder surgery. Possibly a few weeks away. Similar for Fitz.

What's the story with Cooney? Is his move off?

Edit: the reason I ask is because he was rehabbing with Leinster and was at the game the other day, along with goreyguy's comment it's all made me curious.

Ah didn't cop that's why he's "still a Leinster player". That all makes sense now in one way, but in another I wouldn't be happy from a Connacht perspective.

Personally I think these deals could be win win win win if handled right. Win for Connacht, Leinster, Ireland and Cooney in this case.

Connacht get a good player at little or no cost for a year. Leinster retain control of the player. Ireland don't lose him to PRL/LNR and the player gets much needed gametime and a chance to develop, while being less than 2 hours drive from home.

Will be interesting to follow but hard to know what will happen.. He needs gametime and clearly MOC isn't going to give him enough this year.. we really need both he and mcgrath to step up and be ready to replace Boss/Reddan.

Oh I'm all in favour of loan deals, just think it's odd that he's rehabbing here. I'm sure it's so he can keep seeing a doctor who's familiar with the injury or something but to me it's as if he's putting the move off.

Darcy is pictured on Leinster site training (seemingly normally) with the squad

thought he was just getting preseason off as he is old and needs his gametime managed partially with international duty in mind?

I asked him about it a couple of weeks back and he said he won't move there until injury is healed and he is passed fit. His player profile has been removed from Leinster site and is now up on Connacht site (though without a picture)

Good thread. Will help understand Lukes "week too soon" during the year.

Updated on a game by game basis so we can see the estimate compared to reality is a must
