Wonder if Denton is injured or if we're worried about someone else for Sunday?

Hard to know. In the printed teamsheet they gave out, he and Marshall weren't in it so it obviously wasn't a last minute cry-off from either of them.

Someone in front of me timed the last scrum in the first half at over 13 minutes. Farcical stuff!

technically is ref right as if the scrum is collapsing on the hit you cant say Jersey would certainly have scored a try?

First half ends after 55 mins. 23-3 at half-time. 2 tries for McGrath, 13 points from the boot of Ross Byrne.
Pretty farcical stuff. Brian Byrne was sinbinned for collapsing a maul near the line. Jersey opted for a scrum. There was about 44 minutes on the clock. And so the saga began. Collapsed scrum after collapsed scrum after collapsed scrum, with the ref penalising Leinster every time but not giving the penalty try. He even sinbinned Dooley as well but wouldn't give the PT. To howls of laughter Byrne actually served out his sinbin and came back on for the scrums that hadn't left the area of his original penalty. Eventually the ref gave a penalty to Leinster but really they should have had a PT at some point. Their travelling supporters weren't happy and they had a point in fairness.

On the overall game, was happy enough with the win on a manky night. Jersey were decent enough and had a good pack but just couldn't transfer all their possession into points. McGrath took his two tries very well and Ross Byrne kicked very nicely. Brian Byrne, Josh van der Flier and Ross Molony put in decent shifts in the loose.
Completely agree with everything you've written there, Donny. Those were exactly the players I would have picked out as performing well. Very little in that game for the three quarters, and we wisely didn't try much that involved them. Lashing rain and a gail blowing diagonally towards the seconds pitch made passing and handling an absolute lottery, so it was good to see all those youngsters in the backline recognise that and concentrate on establishing position and building a score in the first half when the wind was as their backs.

The refereeing at the end of the first half was absolutely farcical. We must have conceded seven or eight scrum penalties and yet the ref wouldn't give a penalty try against us for consistent infringement. If I was a Jersey fan I'd have been extremely annoyed.

Kind of ebbed and flowed. At the start Leinster were getting all the penalties in the scrum, some a little harsh on Jersey if I'm honest.
For the stand on the line, they were down to seven and then six forwards so obviously it struggled.

In the second half, we got a few and they got a few. With all the knock-ons in the wet weather, there were a LOT of scrums.

Overall though, it was a big improvement on the Munster game anyway.

To take the last question first, I thought Molony and Thornbury did well and looked a partnership that complimented each other in an old-school 'little and large' second row. Molony was busier in the loose but Thornbury worked hard too.

Must say I didn't notice Timoney too much. Not saying he played badly, but perhaps he was doing more work close-in. In fairness he wasn't subbed in the backrow, Coghlan was.

Finally Murphy and O'Connor did get on, for about five and three minutes respectively. I'll hold off on making judgement for now

Murphy and O'Connor don't have what it takes to make it in the professional game. Not trying to be harsh or anything.

That better?

The Carmarthen Quins team we're playing this coming weekend are essentially the Scarlets' A side. Seems to be a fair bit of controversy about this. Probably the way the Welsh regions should go, but as usual they're doing it a bit half-arsed and managing to p1$$ off loads of people.

Is Coughlan the player who was being tried at 12?
