Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.
Mark Flanagan no longer with Mont de Marson. Somewhere in English Championship I think.
A list of 'Wild Geese' was compiled here in Sept 2014 or thereabouts and contained about 60 Irish players. Have'nt seen a Leinster version since about 2012

Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.
I wonder how many people had pencilled Stewart Maguire in as our tighthead for this World Cup?

I think they are all Marist Athlone and Buccaneers. Both of which are Connacht clubs/schools.
Athlone is on both sides of the Shannon and therefore in both provinces. Counties Westmeath and Roscommon.
They have it hard enough down there with the fewest rugby clubs in the country without us trying to claim some of them.
Ah but Henshaw played two seasons at minor with Westmeath. He's Leinster!

I remember he was hyped up hugely though, the welsh weren't happy about us taking him, he looked okay at under 20 level, and we had nobody else coming through at the time.
Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.
His bulk made him a useful scrummager at U-20 level but he was a lazy sod and never kicked on. A poor man's Tony Buckley.LeRouxIsPHat wrote:Fair pointcormac wrote:Probably not anyone who saw him play.LeRouxIsPHat wrote:I wonder how many people had pencilled Stewart Maguire in as our tighthead for this World Cup?

That's really bad news. Such a talented player blighted by injuries. Hope he goes well in whatever's next for him.Dave Cahill wrote:Well sadly there is one less exile now with the news that Felix Jones has had to retire

Has that been confirmed? Heard the rumours on twitter earlier today.Dave Cahill wrote:Well sadly there is one less exile now with the news that Felix Jones has had to retire
That lad had no luck at all. Had a good spell over the last few years and nearly forced his way onto he WC squad. Should have never left Dublin.
You know I'm going to lose,
And gambling's for fools,
But that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live FOREVER!

Re: Leinster exiles, where are they.
I know you're talking about Buckley, but I can't think of their tightheads without thinking of Borlaise. Mentioned this several times but his performance against Leinster A on Good Friday a few years back was far and away the worst and most disgraceful performance I've ever seen from any player. He couldn't keep up with the play and put all his energy into getting in stupid fights. It reminded me of an overweight supporter with a few pints on him just running onto the field and trying to join in.simonokeeffe wrote:the giant tighthead obsession messed Munster up way more than usLeRouxIsPHat wrote:I wonder how many people had pencilled Stewart Maguire in as our tighthead for this World Cup?
