The sport that unites Catholic, Protestant and dissenter has had its day of days. Pity anybody who can't enjoy it. Some day.

I thought nobody was listening. 26-24 Lein. Not long left. They're looking more likely thoughCianostays wrote:Thanks for the updates

That's it. We hung on. Very enjoyable in terrible conditions. Some lovely attacking rugby but defence coulda been better. A lot of errors but probably to be expected.
Re: Leinster v Gloucester Sat 20th August
Full-time. 26-24 to Leinster.

Always good to get the win. Were Gloucester playing the kids also?

Rory O'Loughlin with a try. Good game from him?
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

Not sure but they did have a lot of their starters playing in either half ( Hook, twelvetrees etc.). I'd wager they had the more experienced side alrightCianostays wrote:Always good to get the win. Were Gloucester playing the kids also?

on the other hand the other locks, Molony & Triggs, really good
Re: Leinster v Gloucester Sat 20th August
It was pretty awful really. no direction whatsover in the first half. Somewhat better in the second but still way short of where we would expect it to be. A rudderless unspiring and worrying performance. The coaching ticket is exposed.

In a pre season friendly? That's a bit premature surelywise7 wrote:It was pretty awful really. no direction whatsover in the first half. O'Loughlin seems to be having a really good pre season. At the start of the year I couldn't understand why he was still on the books but he's proving me very wrong..... long may it continue!!
Re: Leinster v Gloucester Sat 20th August
Seems like a very harsh assessment of a pre-season game which we won with a very young, very inexperienced and very unsettled selection against a team featuring multiple internationals [James Hook, Billy Twelvetrees, Matt Scott, John Afoa, Ross Moriarty, Richard Hibbard, Ben Morgan amongst others].wise7 wrote:It was pretty awful really. no direction whatsover in the first half. Re: Leinster v Gloucester Sat 20th August
Crikey, who worries about a pre-season where players started, went off, and came back on again? Of course, the direction was lacking. The referee did well to make sure there wasn't 16 vs 16 on the pitch.wise7 wrote:It was pretty awful really. no direction whatsover in the first half. I hope for Glaws sake that James Hook is a slow starter, as he was very poor. Fair dues to their supporters, they added some noise - and some interesting costumes
Who was the young fair-haired prop for Leinster, came on as a sub? Small and compact fellow, looked to have a bit about him.
Carberry came on and instilled some of the direction that wise7 was lamenting about. Then moved to fullback, and didn't seem out of place.
In all, a useful hit-out as Gloucester are no mugs, and seemed a little more hungry than Ulster last week. Leinster forwards looked to get their hands free in the tackle, didn't always get the ball away, but we scored a nice try when it worked.
