I'd imagine there is a lot of pressure from TV to keep the game on.FLIP wrote:Our game now the only one not postponed in the Northern Hemisphere

Hopefully next Friday maybe? Although it will hurt us in that we would have had a stronger team if played this Saturday, you don't want fixtures hanging around like a stale fart!

Not sure if this suits us tbh.
Will probably mean we lose guys like Cronin, MCF, maybe Jordi etc who we would have had.
They may gain Patchell back too.
On the plus side, if SOB is really that close he might be an option. Thought wouldn't hold my breath.
Could be looking at something like:
Byrne, Tracy, Bent, Molony, Fardy, Josh M, Connors, Deegan, JGP, Byrne, Daly, Isa, ROL, Byrne, Larmour
Strauss, Dooley, Heffernan, Nagle/Kearney, Timmins, McCarthy, Frawley, DK.

I could live with that. I'd say there isn't a fag paper between Tracy and Brian Byrne right now, and thats not to be critical of Tracy.

Not saying this because of it affecting availability for us, but Barry Daly is training with Ireland

Let me do that for you then...LeRouxIsPHat wrote:Not saying this because of it affecting availability for us, but Barry Daly is training with Ireland
I mean, great for him, but why do they need him to hold tackle bags?

Delighted for him and smart (as always) by Joe S. The Scottish back-line has more pace that most within our Squad and bringing in Daly to mimic their wingers in siz e and pace makes sense. BTW, when you are invited to an Irish Squad session you do an awful lot more than hold tackle bags and if you don't learn a lot, that's you're own fault.LeRouxIsPHat wrote:Not saying this because of it affecting availability for us, but Barry Daly is training with Ireland

I'd say that's totally true for extended squad members during the prep for a series of games.Ruckedtobits wrote:BTW, when you are invited to an Irish Squad session you do an awful lot more than hold tackle bags and if you don't learn a lot, that's you're own fault.
I'd be slightly sceptical of applying that statement to a player, who has zero chance of making the matchday squad, and who is brought in on the Monday before the second last 6 Nations game.
Hopefully, we will get him released for Friday (and he will have sufficient prep with the squad).
I would wonder if we will get Ferg too: I can see him losing out to Scannell for the Irish matchday squad...but they probably won't release him anyway.

Sam Arnold did some in house media stuff today, wouldn't be totally shocked if he stepped in for Ferg, but then again I've been wrong on 90% of predictions recently
We had last week to prepare for this game as well, so not overly worried about this week being disrupted.

Rumour that the Scarlets have signed Tom Varndell on loan from Bristol to the end of the season. Not sure when the move will be completed but would imagine he'll be there for the QF at the latest.
Ruddock's tackle stats consistently too low for me to be taken seriously as a Six Nations blindside..... Ruddock's defensive stats don't stack up. - All Blacks Nil, Jan 15th, 2014

From what little I've seen of him this season, he seems in good nick.
States in the article he could play against us!
Re: Scott Fardy vs Tadhg Beirne Round 2 - Sat 3.15 Sky Sport
I'd say Varndell could still bang in the tries at Pro14 level. Not sure he exactly fits into Scarlets' approach though? From what I remember he seemed to be more of a selfish winger than a guy looking to keep the ball alive and work hard infield.
Will be interesting to see if he plays on Fri. Adam Byrne versus Varndell would be a battle I’d pay to see.
McNichols out for them for the year is a huge loss for them btw.

So even with 10 changes, Scarlets make up 11 out of the 23-man Welsh Squad for their weekend encounter with Italy.
From a Leinster perspective, delighted with selection of Davies on the Welsh flank. He's a pain the arse for any team trying to get quite ball against Scarlets.
