It’s great to be considered for this award but, as good as Sexton has been for both us and Ireland, he does not deserve to win this award ahead of many of the nominees on that list.
The achievements of New Zealand in this decade in particular; two World Cups, 18 game winning streak and an 88% win rate over 133 games; is insane, and as it happens the players that contributed to that also happen to be some of the greatest players to ever play the game.

Carter and McCaw only played for half the decade.
The nominees are anyone who won the award in the last 10 years. Barrett won it twice and was an international for most of the decade, so I’d expect him to win it. Sexton has a decent enough case though.
