There is more of a chance of him ending up in the MLR (Im sure clubs over there will be watching his every move) and lining out for the USA now then becoming a regular starter for Munster. That's not a dig at his ability, rather its Munsters inability to properly develope these players.ronk wrote:They already are lowering expectations on that front. They said they want him because Munster have props in their 30s and he will get his chance in about 2 years.Keith wrote:It will look all the more bizarre when Munster barely play him next season.ronk wrote:In depth article on Salanoa. He was happy in Leinster, well settled and they dont think he will play more rugby inMunster in the next 2 years. You wonder what the benefit of moving is...

I guess it’s less controversial to move him now rather than let him break through in Leinster or risk him changing his mind.

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
I'd prefer to be wrong. This is not a good reason. When factors other than rugby dictate then worse moves overall happen.johng wrote:Ah you have all theanswers Ronk.ronk wrote: I guess it’s less controversial to move him now rather than let him break through in Leinster or risk him changing his mind.

Pictures out. No sign of Tomane. Lowe obviously still in NZ, as is JGP.
Full squad update tomorrow.

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
I think Salanoa has so much natural athletic ability and power that he will break through at Munster, regardless of their poor culture in giving young players game time. Also, as absurd as Marty Moore's claim that he moved to Wasps to work with Dai Young was, I do think working with Rowntree will help Salanoa's scrummaging.

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
Well they don't have many options..
Archer and Ryan are in their early 30's, when they finish up there will be Knox and Salanoa.
They haven't developed a homegrown TH of decent ability since Ryan/Archer and haven't invested in homegrown TH props what so ever in the past 5 years.
It's obvious from the recent article on the42 that his handlers wanted him at Munster, come what may. Ah well, by all accounts he is a good guy and I wish him well apart from when he plays Leinster.

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
I think no matter what way you bend it, on paper, the Leinster senior squad for next season will again be weaker then the previous season. Obviously this may not turn out to be the case if the guys from the academy that come in to replace the guys leaving step up and live up to their potential but there's no doubt we will be losing a good wack of experience in Kearney, McFadden and Tomane which we won't be replacing.mildlyinterested wrote:So projected senior squad:

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
Our squad is weaker this season and Munster's is stronger. It'll be much tighter this year, and will only grow more so if they continue to be enabled by the IRFU in raiding our squad (and buying in world class NIQs, of which we have none).

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
Would respectfully disagree. Improvements, by experience, at Hooker, 2nd Row, Back-row, Out-halves, Centre & Full-back. The Squad now has depth in tricky positions. Not perfect but not so experimental and..........at present...........no injuries.neiliog93 wrote:Our squad is weaker this season and Munster's is stronger. Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
I'm telling Fardy and Lowe that people are saying they are not world class.

Re: Leinster Squad 19-20
I don't think they are. They're both very good, but world class for me means someone who would mount a credible challenge to be included in a World XV in their position. Neither of them do that.johng wrote:I'm telling Fardy and Lowe that people are saying they are not world class.
