Josh Murphy had 29, Mick K 30, Rhys 25 and Deegan 20.

Deegan had a great showing. Won a great turnover, a brute in attack and good work rate.
He has been really good for three or four months at this stage. As he said himself, he had a slow start to the season [not dissimilar to last season] but has hit his straps since the interpros late in 2018 and is playing at a consistently high level.

There's a really big selection call to be made with regards to the bench for the Ulster match. I think the starting backrow picks itself [Rhys, Leavy, Conan], but it's a big call between Max and SOB on the bench.

SOB's rep has plummeted over the Six Nations. He did well against England off the bench, was okay against Scotland, poor against Italy and anonymous against Wales. Apologies for repeating myself on this subject, but I firmly believe that his value lies in being an impact sub - for both Leinster and Ireland. His most 'Sean O'Brien-esque' performance came against England, when he only had to go for a quarter of an hour. So maybe the coaches look at it like that too.

But on the other hand, Max is playing really well, has played a lot of rugby this season, is about a decade younger than SOB and is a man on the upslope of his career. O'Brien is clearly on the downslope, and he's off to London Irish next season. So in the long- and mid-term, there's only one good decision: Deegan. And he might even be the better decision in the short-term.

The other provinces have still to qualify from the league but of course it would be ok to rest players in yourfinal game.
The Victory for Edinburgh last night revived their hopes for the league and also did Munster no favours for next week.
Hopefully the threatened demo on the boarder for next Saturday which ironical threatened to close the boarder in the name of freedom of movement may not now take place and the Munster fans willl not have to go through customs on re-entry to the EU.
The other provinces are just other teams we are competing against, them struggling should be none of our concern. We have a home semi in the pro 14 and quarter in the champions cup to worry about. Everything else should just be about preparing for them games. Surly trying to engineer outcomess for other teams in the league would bring the league into disrepute.

The game didn't matter, just like the losses to Connacht and Treviso at the end of last season. They're annoying at the time but give it a week and no one will remember. The squad against Ulster will have hardly been together, with the exception of players coming back from injury there's absolutely no need to fly half of them out to Edinburgh, seriously disrupting preparation for the Quarter final, for a game in a conference we've mathematically won.

It'd not our job to help the other provinces qualify or to do Munster a favour for next week.

Interesting lesson for the team. Playing well, leading and on the road to win. Edinburgh were struggling against us but found a few weaknesses and they mercilessly focused their game on taking us on there.

We worked hard but couldn't live with the pressure and the ref. Slowly we got ground down.

Only saw the highlights?
So taking a black box approach.
Score at ht - 14-11.
Score at ft - 28 - 11.
Suggests.
1. Leinster played for the 80s.
2. Leinster defended well but were hard to break down.
3. Leinster didn't create very much. No score in second half suggests as much.
Who played well.
Why were we toothless in attack, lack of possession, the HBs, a bit of both or another reason.
How many of the 23 will figure next weeken
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall who's the greatest player of them all? It is Drico your majesty.

We barely had the ball for about 40 minutes starting around the 30 min mark.

Weirdly enough I thought they’re was plenty of positives to take from that game considering it was a scratch side basically thrown together and lots of injuries during the week which added more disruption

Positives
Fronted up defensively very well considering pretty much Edinburgh’s front line euro team
Started very well and controlled the game up until 30/35th minute
Younger guys like Deegan, Frawley, Murphy, JOB and Mullin got huge experience
Few guys like Leavy, Cronin and McGrath got game time needed for next week

Negatives
Couldn’t cope with big D sets near our line a few times
Maul Defence not great
Penalty count way too high which led to sustained pressure
Scrum started well but fell off as game went on

Yeh we lost but I don’t think score reflected the effort that went in
Don’t think that coaches will be too disappointed as the effort was there and it’s good prep for next week

Deegan is the rock that the next generation of Leinster backrows should be built on. He is a superb player with all the skills and attitude needed to be a 50+ capper for Ireland (What I regard as the gold standard). I thought he added a nice bit of grit on Friday with some heavy carries and hard hits. Our backrow is superb in general but we are light at 8 and in truth Conan hasn't hit the heights that I hoped he would where he'd replace Stander. Deegan looks like he can do that.

Some of the stuff about Tomane has been pretty toxic. Saw some eejit say that it was 'morally wrong' to play him on Twitter earlier. Morally wrong like

Personally I've lost all respect for him since he shook all those hands against Cardiff at the start of the season. Conduct unbecoming of a Leinster player!

Bit disappointed over the lack of a citing for the tip tackle on Noel Reid, given some of the things we've seen red cards for this year that looks a bit out of line to me.

Agreed. He seemed to land on his shoulder and head at virtually the same time. I would have thought it would be worth making players answer a case when there's an incident like that. McKenzie could have made the exact same action and Reid could have landed on his head, which would have been a red. It seems crazy that the punishment is determined by the outcome rather than the action. Commentators seem to still talk about no intent etc. Also, if a player goes off and fails a HIA as a result, the binned player should be made to stay off too, perhaps allowing a sub to take their place when the 10 minutes is up.

I say this every time the outcome based decision has an impact but it's absolute nonsense. Put your hand out so that your head doesn't hit the ground first (which is obviously a very unnatural thing for a rugby player to do, hence why it can often look like they hesitate) and that means that the guy who drove you into the ground gets away with it.

At least the outcome based judgement is a bit less random in tip tackles than it is in aerial incidents because the tip tackler has a lot more control over how the tackled player lands than the player competing in the air and causing another to fall dangerously does.

The interpretation is clear. You lift a player you are responsible for bringing him safely down.

If a tackled player has to protect himself by absorbing the force of the ground impact with a limb then it probably wasn’t safe. At the same time we see players flipping over not lifting tackles and landing awkwardly. But if you haven’t lifted then the standard of responsibility is not the same (it is always there).

Outcome based fails both cases. Players learn that red cards and citing are luck more than something they have control over.
