Re: Leinster Academy 19/20
Our expectations have risen so high, so quickly, that what we now consider a 'breakthrough' would have been considered extraordinary even three years ago.ronk wrote:Good mix of players but not many breakthoughs so far.mildlyinterested wrote:Senior apps this season:

The performances of such as Harry Byrne, Ronan Kelleher, Ryan Baird, Tommy O'Brien, Rowan Osborne and the development of players like Jordan Larmour, James Ryan, Andrew Porter, Ross Byrne, Ciaran Frawley, Will Connors, Caelan Doris, and Josh Murphy has been measured and superbly managed in accordance with the skills and personality of each individual.
There have been departures, some high profile and others high potential. But none have been accompanied by the sort of explosions of personal or media outrage which often cause long-term damage to both personalities and relationships.
Very significant development continues to occur but the pace of it is now much more related to the individual's attributes.
However, one of the flies in the ointment is the significance of injuries in young players who have been promoted quickly to exposure on the senior team. The two young second-rows, Dunne and Ryan, who both performed well for the senior team (and exceptionally well for the A Team) last year have both been completely absent this Season with unidentified injuries. However, thus far Leo has not pushed players or coaches to rush guys back from injury in a manner which might place their long-term career at risk.

Not sure about that I'd expect Byrne and Baird to graduate early from the academy after this season. Sheehan could join them given his progress this season.ronk wrote:Good mix of players but not many breakthoughs so far.mildlyinterested wrote:Senior apps this season:

This is one of the really annoying aspects of the website - if someone hasn’t played this season then their last seasons page is left up so at a quick glance it looks like (for example) Barry Daly has played 9 games so far this seasonmildlyinterested wrote:Correct you are.
